Are GP's seeing patients now?

Are GP's seeing patients now or is it telephone appointments? Can I make an appointment to see my GP or do I have to have a telephone consultation before so they can assess if I need to see them?

Depends on your surgery and what the issue is, but potentially yes.

It’s telephone or online first with option of video call. Face to face only if absolutely impossible to manage your problem without seeing you. FTF will be a brief in-out for examination only with GP in full on hazmat gear. (I’m a GP...)

Guidance from NHS England is that we work like this at least until April 2021. It is horribly like working in a call centre but is trying to keep patients and doctors safe from infection especially when assessing people with cough/fever

I saw our GP yesterday, after brief phone call. They were in plastic apron, gloves and mask. We wore masks.

@sleeplessinderbyshire I think I have anxiety and im not sure how I will explain over the phone.

Does your surgery use e-consult or similar (have a look on their website should be clear if they do). Might be easier to start by filling in one of these and then gp is well primed when they ring you as they know lots of it already without you having to work out how/where to begin

Telephone triage first, then appointment in person if necessary. GP was in face mask. Then I got hospital appointment for an ultrasound scan (Deemed non urgent) within two weeks.

@sleeplessinderbyshire yes they do use e consult. How confidential is e consult? Does it go straight to GP or a receptionist? I've only used it for sick notes.

I think most surgeries are doing phone a all’s first, but will have face to face appointments when necesary,
