What is/are yours ?

I love Rachel's Organic Coconut yogurt and Glenisk Dark Cherry yogurt.
Both utterly delicious.

Not far behind are M&S Crumpets, toasted, with Irish butter. Yummy.

Tayto crisp sandwich ( Irish posters will know about this ).

Marmite on toast with proper butter and a cup of tea. Best lunch in the world!

dontgobaconmyheart · 26/08/2020 11:48

I was sort of hoping this would be about the mumsnet obsession with calling any delicious food 'food of the gods' , which I hate and always makes me cringe, literally never heard anyone say this in real life. Sorry OP, i do mean it lightheartedly, it's nothing personal, i just can't bear the turn of phrase!

Food I get excited about- Anthon berg marzipan liqueur chocolates, with you on the heinously buttery crumpets, triple chocolate cheesecake, and a roast chicken with crispy skin. Sounds morbid when you lay it out but it's the skin that really does it.

stophuggingme · 26/08/2020 11:56

Goose fat roast potatoes that are really crunchy but fluffy inside

Slow Roasted vine tomatoes with olive oil, salt, black pepper and balsamic vinegar the sprinkled with thyme. Such a lovely accompaniment to many meats and fish

Crispy smoked bacon sandwich with HP sauce

Coop salt and Chardonnay vinegar crisps.

Violet creams

Buttered Brazils

Definitely marmite on toast

Canadian cheddar

SisyphusDad · 26/08/2020 12:12

Teacake,

I'll see your Marmite and raise you Bovril Grin.

CoronaIsShit · 26/08/2020 12:19

Sesame seed bagels with cheesy coleslaw and cheese

New York Cheesecake topped with fresh raspberries

Sweet potato wedges

Teacakequeen · 26/08/2020 12:46

Wow, I've never had Bovril on toast. I'll have to try it.Some people talk about cheese and marmite on toast but I'm not really sold on that.

I do actually call Marmite on toast and a cup of tea food of the gods in real life

CockCarousel · 26/08/2020 12:56

Food of the gods Grin

Hot, caramelised almonds
fichi al rhum

UnfinishedSymphon · 26/08/2020 13:04

Slow roasted garlic and rosemary lamb leg with crispy skin and agree with a PP, crispy chicken skin is amazing

Mintjulia · 26/08/2020 13:07

Fresh figs from the garden with prosciutto and balsamic vinegar Smile

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 26/08/2020 13:14

Absolutely with you @LadyEloise about a Tayto cheese and onion sandwich...has to be white bread and loads of butter.

Near where I live we get massive langoustines...barbecued and then drowned in chilli and garlic butter, bliss.

Also Morelli's coffee or triple chocolate ice cream, has to be bought from their shop in Portstewart Grin

bearlyactive · 26/08/2020 13:19

My homemade macaroni cheese with bacon and spring onions... that's going to be dinner tomorrow night!

The meringues that Beefeater are doing at the moment, as they have the perfect combination of textures!

A certain type of cake from my local bakery, it's square, covered in chocolate and has jam inside it. I don't normally like jam but I do here!

Also a certain type of ice cream I had when I was in hospital a few years ago. Whether it was the fact that my throat was sore after all the tubes, or the fact that I had hardly eaten for days, but it went down really well. They talk about tea and toast after giving birth, I talk about ice cream after back surgery Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/08/2020 13:23

Fresh figs with goats cheese and honey.

Mozzella, tomatoes, avocado, olive oil and balsamic with a crust of gnarly bread.

CorianderLord · 26/08/2020 13:51

Harissa aubergine and chickpeas with mint/parsley/coriander and lemon. Topped with pomegranate and served with flatbread.

I would eat it everyday if I could.

AnyFucker · 26/08/2020 13:55

Almond croissants with a custard filling from a particular bakery I know

A zillion calories each but I don't care

Toilenstripes · 26/08/2020 14:29

Tortilla chips and salsa 🥰

TheVanguardSix · 26/08/2020 14:43

Lebanese food. All of it. Full stop.
Vegetarian Borscht with boatloads of fresh dill.
Sourdough pane Pugliese or sourdough rye with lashings of butter.
Fries. Crispy hot fries.
Milkshakes.
A thoroughly decent Eccles or Welsh cake with a sweet, strong builders' cup of Barry's tea (I assume St. Peter will be there at the Pearly gates, holding a tray of this for me when I arrive).
Fresh mozzarella and beautiful tomato sprinkled with zaatar, fresh basil chopped in, with a generous soaking of balsamic and olive oil, bit o' salt and pepper.
Hungarian mushroom soup (good hearty dollop of sour cream! Lots of paprika. Lots of dill. Go mad with the fresh chive as well)
Milky coffee with a wonky lump of brown sugar (the French cubes).
In N Out burger (those who know, know)
Damn decent Mexican food (which really does not exist outside of California and Mexico. Don't delude yourselves with those Grand Pretenders, Tortilla and Wahaca).

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 28/08/2020 10:33

A toast and fish finger sandwich!

Chocolate fudge cake, only if the icing is the right consistency.

Hot buttered toast.

Scones fresh from the oven, jam first!

GolightlyMrsGolightly · 28/08/2020 10:36

Quinoa

Went to Peru, quinoa on everything, every time it was put in front of you they’d say ‘quinoa, food of the gods’. Still makes me smile.

Deathraystare · 28/08/2020 10:50

Crumpets awash with butter so it trickles down your chin and joins the other food stains down your top (or is that just me?).

Marmite on toast

Crisp sandwich - must be prawn crisps or plain.

Heinz Tomato soup (yes, really)

Jacket Spud - especially twice baked with cheese, garlic salt.

Vege bangers with onion gravy

Yorkshire Puds

Salmon burgers

Chips

Rarely eat puddings at home however i do love Mr Whippy ice cream. I find shop bought ones too sweet - all cookie dough this and salted caramel that.

Seriouslymole · 28/08/2020 10:56

That was a clue in a cross word once - food of the gods - which is of course "ambrosia". DS, aged about 10, tried to fit in "cheese and tomato sandwich" because that's what I'd always said it was...

TheMostHappy · 28/08/2020 11:05

Vegemite on hot toast with cold grated cheddar cheese folded in to a sandwich is spot on.
