Just that really. I don't want to spend a lot. I don't think I got anything from DC. I won't be getting him anything from me if that's relevant.

Usually something novelty, for me penny's Disney pjs and for him character socks, a personalised mug with pics of the kids the last 2 birthdays.

From a baby, nothing, it's silly. Once our kids were about 3 we would ask them if there was anything they thought mummy or daddy might like and work with that. Usually ended up being some kind of chocolate or sweets, or sometimes a homemade picture or painting or similar.

Nothing. Bit weird isn't it?
My kids are now young adults and they buy us presents and it means so much to me. Got a really funky pair of converse for mothers day and I love telling people the kids got them for me.

We started up a tradition of a set of really nice hardback books in a series husband wanted, one every birthday with a little message inside.

I think I got him a key ring with coins with dates from his and DD’s birth years for Father’s Day, probably a PS4 game for another, book for another.

They would basically be extra gifts that would have given him but from her (or the dogs 😂).

My partner just had his birthday this week.

I got him a book (from the toddler, for the toddler) 'why i love my daddy'
He said he wanted to read more with him and now they've got a book just for them 2.

Youngest (6month) token gift i bought which was a box of sweets.

9 yr old picked his own for him which was a lazer spirit level & a key ring.

We do the odd 'number 1' dad or picture stuff for father's day but usually i just buy gifts and say thats from kid 1 thats from kid 2 etc.

For xmas last year the middle (18 month at the time) got him a cushion with his face printed on which he still cuddles every time daddys at work.

I wouldnt bother too much with proper niknaks because you gotta store them & they really add up when you have multiple children and birthdays fathers day christmas.

I let the Dc decide once they were 3. He's had beer, wine, chocolate fondue set, nothing because he already has enough, candles, chocolates, biscuits, shower gel and a t-shirt. Before they were 3, I made cards or decorations with them for him, that was enough work!
They don't get me anything.

We did the odd"best Daddy" think for father's Day, but usually socks, chocolate, a ln engraved whisky glass, etc. There will always be those that day is banners unless the child has earned the money themselves and bright it themselves but you both know it's a present sent with love and frankly that's all that matters

It's DHs birthday this week and DS (9 months) is getting his dad some new PJs and some sweets. Not bonkers in my opinion.

Zebrasinpyjamas · 25/08/2020 10:09

I've always bought presents from the dc since they were little but they are tokens, eg his favourite chocolate bar, a mug or something he would find funny. It's a nice gesture imo.

DelurkingAJ · 25/08/2020 10:20

Things like engraved cuff links (I very secretly think they’re a bit naff but DH adores them and that’s what matters). Now they’re a little older it’s often a big Lego set for the DSs to build with him. At Xmas I got them each to pick a smart shirt and tie and then a tshirt (DS2 picked one that can only be described as highlighter yellow but DH wears it on holiday Grin).

I have bought key rings then put a small photo in of ds or one of them together , personalised mug, any tat of his favourite team . I think it's nice for a the child to give their parent something.
