Cycling advice please

I’m going away for a weekend where most of my journey is by train, and when I get there I want to be able to cycle.

I’m going to need minimal overnight things.

I have hybrid bike with panniers and a road bike with not storage.

The latter eats up the miles and will be more fun when I am actually there.

To get from the station to my B and B will require about three miles of cycling.

I could take a small rucksack and just use my road bike, couldn’t I? Or am I setting myself up for chaos?

Yes, rucksack and road bike would be fine.

I used to cycle about that distance to work with a rucksack before I got a bike with panniers. It’s a bit hotter and sweatier but over 3 miles it’s not bad.

You could take the road bike. But.....i love my panniers for a day out....tk carry all.my stuff in....bike spares, picnic, drinks, waterproof, warm clothes etc So pannier bike every time for me!!

Rucksack and road bike. Are you sure you can take your bike on the train? It varies between operators, and might require booking.

Also sounds like a good excuse to buy a gravel bike 😊🤷‍♀️ n+1

If it’s only three miles you can walk it with a big rucksack and push the bike.

Thanks all - never heard of a gravel bike.

I’ve done this route before with my bike so should be okay.

Very excited now, just need the weather to oblige

Thank you all - I am relatively new to road biking so wasn’t sure if this would work. Very excited now
