We are going this week for a riding holiday and I was wondering if anyone here lives there or knows it well and could give me some ideas for what to do with DD (9) between riding (if I'm still alive to tell the tale).

Any good child friendly restaurants? Things to do? We won't have a car.

I guess you'll be riding in
Pakefield? There's a beautiful, long, sandy beach so all the usual walking, swimming etc. The town part is nice and shallow and has lifeguards. There are a few parks too and south pier dam be fun for crabbing (you may get a lobster too if you're lucky). The shopping area, or what's left of it, is north of the bridge. It's got the usual places. If you turn left coming from the south side, just before the bridge, there's a decent asda. The train to Norwich runs through a beautiful landscape and it's a lovely city to wander around in.
Plenty of places to eat so no need to worry, just pick what you fancy in passing. . For fish and chips I'd recommend the dolphin. Proper slap up funky American style food can be had at Sgt Peppers.
Anythibg else you want to know? Just ask

You can get the bus to Africa Alive in Kessingland or the same bus all the way to Southwold, if your Dd was a fan of Grandpa in my pocket its the town from the show and you can climb the lighthouse.

The bus the other way (X1) and go to great Yarmouth which has the Pleasure Beach and normal seaside amusements and Pleasure Wood Hills is on the same bus route just outside Lowestoft (get off at the big Tesco.

Thank you that's very helpful - looks like it's going to rain, which is fine for beach rides (yes, Parklands) and we'll just have to wrap up I guess.

@Damnloginpopup is there anything to do when it rains (DD is not made of sugar, despite what she'd have me believe) but it would be good to know if there is anything to do undercover.

Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park?

It's in Lowestoft and on a decent bus route.

Damnloginpopup · 24/08/2020 15:06

Rain is a tricky one really, I'm not sure what's open these days with all the restrictions (mine are teens now so I'm out of touch with that). I have a tendency to stay inside grumbling to be honest - but the beaches are still great to walk in bad weather imo. Oh, pleasurewood hills takes tesco vouchers and the queues are smaller when it rains

There’s ten pin bowling and a diner at Richardson’s entertainment centre.

Pirates Adventure - soft play Lowestoft not sure if open yet.

Jump - Great yarmouth
Hippodrome Circus - GY
Lido with bookable fun sessions - Beccles the slots go like hot cakes atm

Norwich
Castle
Odean
Bowling
Gravity (Jump + a clip and climb)

Lowestoft isn't really a big touristy place if you want indoor entertainment your better bussing to GY.

Shannith · 24/08/2020 18:15

Thank you, some great ideas. Google was worryingly light on suggestions.

Is your accommodation Lowestoft? You might find more to do based Yarmouth way? And the travel to Lowie for the horse riding.

FlySheMust · 24/08/2020 18:21

The Broads are near and beautiful.
