Had enough. Get a grip people.

Standing in a queue, at a perfectly reasonable distance in a very busy store, and someone just asked my dear sweet husband, who wouldn't hurt a fly to move away as if he was an actual piece of deliberately infectious rubbish. No thought to the fact they are away to sit down and eat in an atmosphere full of people, without masks on and recycled air circulating, no just be rude to my perfectly respectful man. Had enough of this rubbish. People need to get a grip of themselves and screw their heads back on.

my dear sweet husband, who wouldn't hurt a fly to move away as if he was an actual piece of deliberately infectious rubbish so he has a special type of germ/virus that's none contagious or his me breath is like a hot dose of antibacterial spray that will kill those little invaders before they get to the juicy bits? I'd totally missed that only mean people have the contagious variety of Corona virus

walfordwatcher · 24/08/2020 16:43

Oh my god! Who will play your dear sweet husband in the much anticipated movie version of this gripping tale?

Thanks for the biggest laugh of the day!

Thanks to the OP for letting us know that "dear sweet husbands" cannot catch, or spread, coronavirus! Does Chris Witty know this?

MaveyWavey · 24/08/2020 16:43

How far away was he? If it was 2 metres or poor, then the woman who asked him was being unreasonable. If he was less than 2 metres away, then she had every right to ask him to move back. I would (and have) done the same

butterpuffed · 24/08/2020 16:44

I do think you're being a bit OTT, OP, but some of the posters are OTT x 50.

ReggieCat · 24/08/2020 16:45

If I feel someone is standing closer than I feel comfortable with, I ask them to move. Their dearness and sweetness is irrelevant. Their closeness is relevant, that's all.

hellswelshy · 24/08/2020 16:45

It doesn't sound as if op's husband was encroaching or being unreasonable let's face it, and was wearing a mask. If the other person is that anxious, maybe they should do online shopping or click and collect?

midsomermurderess · 24/08/2020 16:47

The stuff people take to Mumsnet about these days amazes me. It's as if adult women need constant validation of their every thought and action. It's a sad state of affairs.

NaturalStudy · 24/08/2020 16:48

I agree OP. People can't voluntarily go out for a meal and then whinge about people being too close. They are hypocrites. Stay at home if you think its that bad.

Grobagsforever · 24/08/2020 16:51

Where can I get a T shirt for my Polite and Respectful partner to wear, so everyone is aware of his nature?

LillianBland · 24/08/2020 16:51

my dear sweet husband, who wouldn't hurt a fly

Going by your follow up comments, OP, there’s some truth in the old expression, opposites attract. 😁

viques · 24/08/2020 16:51

@Morgan12

😮😮😮

Would have to to be Tom Hanks surely?
TimeTruthandHearts · 24/08/2020 16:54

Would have to to be Tom Hanks surely?

It does sound a bit Forrest Gump.

oakleaffy · 24/08/2020 16:56

Oh dear- Calling him ''Dear and sweet'' makes him sound about ninety, or about three- either way, a rather emasculating description.
Did he cry?

I have been asked to ''MOVE'' by a rude women, while maintaining a safe distance, but just suck it up, assuming she was having a bad day.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 24/08/2020 16:56

Most people I found were well able to respect people's personal space before this lunacy (oh, yes it is) started. Within 1m of any person in most circumstances is probably within their personal space without having to count centimetres or steps. If someone's in the way, a simple 'excuse me please' should suffice.

I'm going with a +1 for what midsomermurderess said above. The worst case scenario on these sorts of threads is that someone's been rude - intentionally or otherwise - to a stranger they'll likely never see again. The world will keep turning. In the scheme of things this is small stuff.

Chloemol · 24/08/2020 16:59

I think you are the one that needs to get a grip

SleepingStandingUp · 24/08/2020 17:00

@WorraLiberty

No, my husband is perfectly sweet, kind and respectful too. I just don't feel the need to preface each mention of him with it.

Agreed. I mean mine's exceptionally good in bed but I wouldn't feel the need to slip that into my recount of a non-event in a supermarket 😂

You should

Standing in a queue, at a perfectly reasonable distance in a very busy store, and someone just asked my extremely well hung husband, who gives me an exquisite orgasm to move away as if he was an actual piece of small willied premature ejaculator. No thought to the fact they are away to sit down and eat in an atmosphere full of people, without masks on and recycled air circulating, no just be rude to my perfectly talented with his hands man. Had enough of this rubbish. People need to get a grip of themselves and screw their heads back on.

Much better

ThomasHardyPerennial · 24/08/2020 17:01

She didn't know that your husband was so dear and sweet though, did she? He was just a stranger in a shop. She knew nothing about his character.

I shouldn't worry. I'm one of those lying bastards that get hammered on threads, as I can't wear. I've have had all sorts shouted at me:
  • Lying cunt
  • Fucking covid denier
  • Fucking super spreader

The shouters were all from a specific age group, which for some reason is surprising.

The best way to handle anyone having a go about this type of thing or getting arsey in a queue is to just ignore them.

He could always get his two metre cock out and measure the gap, so to speak. 🤔

WankyEntitledPeopleEverywhere · 24/08/2020 17:06

My husband was not being unreasonable, and he is sweet and kind, a very nice person, and I will never stop saying that, or being glad every day that he is. If that is food for derision then so be it, but actually that says much more about the world than it ever could about him. Or about me for thinking it and saying it. I hope all those women currently bringing their sons up to be decent men and husbands realise that this is what the world will make of them. But of course, as long as its someone else being made fun of its OK, isn't it?

KingOfDogShite · 24/08/2020 17:11

Outside my local garden centre there are footprints on the floor to indicate where to queue. These footprints are about 4 meters apart. Some bloke told me off for standing too close to him because I wasn’t stood on the footprint but 2 meters behind him. I’m afraid I wasn’t very polite.

I’ve had enough too. Anyone can who barks orders at me now gets ignored.

Lweji · 24/08/2020 17:12

OP, you're the one saying your husband is he exception in being kind and sweet. Otherwise, why would it need mentioning? Wink

smallestleaf · 24/08/2020 17:13

So someone asked someone to take a step back and they did.

smallestleaf · 24/08/2020 17:16

Yes!

MrsGrindah · 24/08/2020 17:20

This thread has cheered me up no end. OP ..your username might be a reflection on yourself!

I am imagining the husband being like Timothy from Sorry now. Does he wear a tank top I wonder?
