Tell me what irritating shit your DH/DC/housemates do that boil your piss

DH will do the dishes, but only the easy ones. If DD's sippy cups, deep glasses or fancy utensils are in there, he will literally drain the water and walk away leaving them there.

Tell me what your cohabitants do that pisses you off!

Run a sink of hot water and dump the stuff in then just leave it so I come to a sink of cold water with nothing actually washed up and it all could have gone in the dishwasher and isn’t stuff that needed soaking. It actually slightly drives me crazy!
I also went to the effort of sorting out an Ikea cube with space for everyone’s shoes and they still leave them out to be tripped over due to sheer laziness.
I could probably go on all night but lastly leaving wrappers everywhere so my 6 month old finds them in his rolling about and I have to grab them before they go in his mouth.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 23/08/2020 20:02

If DH washes up he leaves the dirty water in the bowl so that any bits end up soggy in a bowl of cold, often greasy water.
DS1 borrows things without asking and never returns it to where he took it from - my Bluetooth speaker, spare house keys etc.
DS2 is the most untidy child who never puts things away when asked. I’m not especially tidy myself but he really pushes my tolerance levels!

missmouse101 · 23/08/2020 20:12

Shoes dumped and not put away, faeces splattered in the toilet, water all over the bathroom floor when son and husband have a shower, walls absolutely dripping with condensation after they have their (3 hour) baths, kitchen radio being put up painfully loud...I'll be here all night.Sad

Sausagis · 23/08/2020 20:22

"D"H used to strip downstairs and leave his dirty underwear on the sofa.

DriftGames · 23/08/2020 20:22

Tbh my DH does everything listed above so I should probably LTB

Piles recycling next to the full container until we may as well have bought a second bin. Take. It. Out.

Anordinarymum · 23/08/2020 20:54

My bloke goes for a pee with the seat down. There are times when I could smash him right in the face for doing that. Most of the time I wipe the seat and have a moan. Sometimes I catch him in the act and he just smiles like a naughty child. I can't win

Babyshine2020 · 23/08/2020 20:54

Walks around the house eating toast, scones and other crumby food with no plate Angry

totallyyesno · 23/08/2020 20:58

When OH does the washing up it's never done completely so always something left to soak (even though it's not needed), food left in the plug or leftovers left out of the fridge. So I always have to check which pisses me off because it's not actually hard to do it properly but he half-arses everything.

totallyyesno · 23/08/2020 21:00

Same thing when he unstacks the dishwasher. Only easy stuff put away. Same with shopping. We have a really small kitchen with a tiny workspace and I always have to clear it before starting to cook.

Iwantacookie · 23/08/2020 21:03

Dp will wash up half the dishes unplug the sink and leave the rest next to the sink.
Dp and dc can't quite work out lifting the lid to put dirty clothes IN the basket. Apparently on top or near too is good enough

pilates · 23/08/2020 21:05

Squeezes toothpaste from the middle so it’s all mangled
Toothpaste over the bathroom floor
Work bag left on kitchen worktop
Food left in the sink strainer
Overloading the bin in the kitchen

Anordinarymum · 23/08/2020 21:05

Mine can't wash up. There is something wrong with HIS TWO ARMS :(

tempnamechange98765 · 23/08/2020 21:08

Oh my god, loads.

My DH - as much as my DC annoy me they're both under 5.

Leaves things open, cupboards drawers, the fridge (!), doesn't always put lids back on jars and pens properly

Bundles the tea towel up into a ball and leaves on the side rather than hang it so it'll dry

Closes windows when it's warm, or doesn't open them at all

Leaves post addressed to the occupier/home owner etc unopened

Opens new food items before the old one has finished

If the washing machine/tumble dryer has finished, he might turn it off but wouldn't necessarily empty it if it's a load I put on

uglyface · 23/08/2020 21:08

DP is the cook in our house, I am the cleaner. I could quite merrily ram a mop where the sun doesn’t shine when decides to do things like make pesto and uses every single frigging pan in the entire bloody house. Also has a GAZILLION random gadgets in the kitchen that MUST live out on the worktops and cannot be stored in a cupboard.

LuckyLuckyWoman · 23/08/2020 21:08

We sit on separate sofas. Every time I look at him he's asleep. Drives me nuts.

Timekeepspassing · 23/08/2020 21:09

Leaving his flip flops at the bottom of the stairs. His excuse being he doesn’t want to bring dirt from outside upstairs but then leaves them there when he is out at work!

uglyface · 23/08/2020 21:10

Oh God and yes the windows. Follows me round closing them, saying ‘don’t let the heat in’ even if it’s 6am and still twelve degrees outside.

Aworldofmyown · 23/08/2020 21:14

God, where do I start Grin

bellsbuss · 23/08/2020 21:16

Will eat or drink the last of something and leave the empty packet, carton or bottle in the fridge or cupboard . Dirty crockery or glasses left on the side and not put in the dishwasher but chucks cutlery in the sink. Leaves a trail of crumbs on worktops and ring marks from drinks. Doesn't swill out the sink in the en-suite after use. Doesn't hang up his clothes, leaves shoes in the hallway , there's loads more but getting too pissed off to list them now Hmm

Iwantacookie · 23/08/2020 21:17

Oh I have another clearing his throat in the morning. In bed. Go to the bathroom.
Dp also does this weird thing when hes asleep where he will stop breathing and as soon as I start to panic start snoring! (Hes had it checked by doctor before anyone asks)
Ds2 leaves his wardrobe slightly ajar by not pushing coat hangers back properly. The cats then think weve made them a playground and pull everything out searching for who knows what.

Seasiderabbit · 23/08/2020 21:39

Wow, thanks for this thread!

  • he can't be arsed to hang washing on the line so he drapes it over cold radiators
  • he wears his slippers outside
  • he opens drawers and just leaves them open
  • he leaves his wardrobe door open
  • he splashes water all over the kitchen floor when washing up, stands in it and then walks through the house with dirty slippers on
- doesn't wash up anything remotely difficult
  • he leaves the television on when he's not watching it
  • he never locks the back door at night
  • he brings home bags for life and leaves them all over the house
  • he buys food with no plans to use it so it just rots
  • he brings vegetables home from the allotment and dumps them in the kitchen expecting a fairy to wash them, store them and cook them

Phew. That feels better.

BurnIt · 23/08/2020 21:45

Never fully opens the curtains. Only 3/4 of way... so lazy...

Does never think about washing bedding, cleaning the bathroom or shopping.

But is fabulous in other ways.

1hamwich4 · 23/08/2020 21:47

Can’t bin things. Nothing sticky - just leave wrappers/toilet rolls/old newspapers lying about.

I know the reason in their heads is but then the bin would be full but a) I’m the one that empties them and b) THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE FUCKING WELL FOR

Trenisenne · 23/08/2020 21:50

@uglyface

Oh God and yes the windows. Follows me round closing them, saying ‘don’t let the heat in’ even if it’s 6am and still twelve degrees outside.
I share the pain on this one.

And closes every window at night because of bugs.

And refuses to use the 'complicated' karcher to clean mirrors, so they are always smeared on the radar occasion he bothers to do it at all.

And leaves little piles of electronic devices and peripheries everywhere.
