If you live in an attractive rural/coastal area of the U.K., have you noticed more holiday makers this summer?

For the record I really like it. My husband works in catering and my children have have met new friends who are here on holiday.

I’m not sure if it’s just my coming out of lockdown, ‘blinking into the harsh sunlight’ perspective or if there really are more holidayers about .

I live in North Devon, the traffic has been hellish to be honest, in my opinion yes here are definitely a lot more holiday makers here at the moment.

Live on Dartmoor. It's heaving. And lots of rubbish left everywhere. Went to the beach today in Slapton Sands. Heaving there too. Lots of traffic especially tourists with huge 4 x 4's who will not go into the hedge so you both can pass in case they scratch their precious bodywork! Grrr!

We live rurally and definitely noticed a lot more walkers when lockdown first started. They have depleted a bit now though.

Reading these I feel like I’ve got the best of both worlds. We are certainly not as popular as Dartmoor or the South West of England. Everyone’s been lovely so far.

Norfolk coast holiday maker here. Lifelong visitor and go to the same place every year. There are definitely more people there. More people on the beach, more in the restaurants (even on the non 50% off nights). I was pleased to see it. So many local businesses took a bit and hopefully this will help the road to recovery. Also feel for the locals who don't want it especially those who are in fear of the virus. But hopefully there's a happy medium.

*took a hit not a bit.

Yep we’ve in Devon and it’s been a lot busier, the police said they couldn’t cope they were at capacity from anti-social behaviour.
But then I feel lucky we can still find the quieter places plus we get to enjoy the beach all year so hopefully in a phew weeks time it will calm down again but at least the local economy has had a boost.

Yes! Good! Trade means money and jobs for people.

Yes, I live on the coast and it’s busy - like festival/special event busy, but everyday (or at least every sunny day!). I work in the Lake District, it’s the busiest I’ve ever known it and there seems to be large number of people coming who we don’t normally see - lots more litter and anti social behaviour (such as illegal camping, woodland destruction and awful parking) than normal.

It appears to me that Cornwall is full. We are close to Looe and it is full of tourists. Good for local businesses but not so good when you are late for work, stuck behind 3 caravans on a winding country road Grin
