Long term Eye lash extensions... worth it or pain in the backside?

I’m thinking of getting eye lashes extensions. Had them 10 years ago when child free and loved them. But removed them post child.

Now.... I’m tempted. I know it is infills every two weeks. Is it a hassle? Do you endure because you love them?

Basically, worth it?!

Thanks

Depends.

I had them long term. Negatives - can't wear eyeliner, expensive, they do spoil your natural lashes. Positives - look pretty and no need for mascara!

I'm toying with the idea of having them again but I'm not sure if the expense can be justified.

Thank you!

How frequently did you get infills?

I love mine. Infills every two weeks. But I wouldn't be without them!

How much do you pay?

Do you find difficult fitting in appointments?

I book my appointments well in advance (I had my full set put back on last week, once the lockdown rules relaxed and I've prebooked appointments up until the start of October.

I paid £60 for a full set and £25 every two weeks for infills. I always keep them infilled so never get/need a full new set... except for after lockdown!

Decentsalnotime · 23/08/2020 18:21

I meant more fitting it around work, children etc?

I’m very tempted! Thanks

I got mine done last week for the first time since March and I was beyond excited. I was more looking forwards to my lash lady getting back to work than anything else opening up.

I have eyes again for the first time in 5 months! I love my lashes, and book my next appointment as I’m leaving the current one to ensure I can get in with her (she’s very popular as she’s so good).

It’s an indulgence but I can afford it and I love my lashes so much I make the time to go.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/08/2020 18:46

Sorry, I didn't see this! I got infills every 2 weeks like PP. £40 for full set, £15/£20 for infills depending on how many I'd lost. I don't work on Fridays so used to go then when DS was at school.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 23/08/2020 18:50

I get mine done every 2 weeks. Wouldn't be without them. Hated not having them over lockdown.

Had to buy mascara. Not used it for years

Elouera · 23/08/2020 18:52

I had them years ago and the amount of time for infills and the cost put me off. Also, depending on the length, they can look very fake and obvious.

Prior to lockdown, I had an eye lash tint and lift- similar to an eyelash perm. People thought I had false lashes on. It makes the most of your natural lash, doesnt damage them and I only went back again about 6 weeks later for it again. I didnt need mascara, but you can still use it if you want. (I think eye makeup is fine, as long as its not oil based/waterproof types). I'd definately get that done instead of false lashes IMO.

Crikey
I am shocked at how much they are!
Do you have other regular treatments?

Lillygolightly · 23/08/2020 19:49

I used to have them done a few years ago....

Great for looking a little bit done up even with absolutely no other make up on.

No worrying about mascara run as my eyes tend to water up a lot if I laugh etc

However I found them expensive, also found them uncomfortable...my gosh the relief I felt when I didn’t have them anymore was amazing. Couldn’t believe how heavy my eyes had been feeling for the few months I had them in. Found the infills a pain in the backside but I’m terrible with stuff like that anyway. My hair is highlighted blonde and more often than not I have roots because I hate going to the hairdresser so I probably average about every 4/5 months rather then the recommended 6-8 weeks. I’m the same with nails too so never bother with them either. I genuinely hate sitting there and being messed with. I only just about keep up the blonde because it suits me and I love it roots or no roots Grin

I've been using Revitalash for the last year. It's made a very noticeable difference. Not quite the same as extensions, but certainly cheaper, less hassle and more natural looking. It does take about 6 weeks to notice a difference and you have to be very consistent in applying it daily.

linmanuel · 23/08/2020 20:52

what is revitalash?
how does it work?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/08/2020 20:55

@linmanuel I have other treatments. Nails done every 3 weeks, eyebrows done every 4 weeks and hair done every 8 weeks.

doadeer · 23/08/2020 20:57

Wow these are so cheap!!! It's £80+ around me!

I used to have mine every 3 weeks pre lockdown. Did that for years. I loved them. No damage to my lashes with a good technician. Previously used cheaper ones which wrecked my lashes

Thesuzle · 23/08/2020 20:58

Rivitalash advanced is the best beauty product I have ever bought. It even rr-grew then ends of my eyebrows.. looking at the prices above for lash extensions I have saved myself money by using it.
Shop around, sizes and prices vary online

SickToDeathOfThis · 23/08/2020 21:00

I found the ‘lash lift’ a complete waste of time - Only one eye (vaguely) worked, so I looked wonky and odd. Sigh. It was expensive. I love lash extensions though when I have upcoming social events - I get straight ones at a relatively short length (9-11mm) and I get a great look with minimal effort. I’m not doing it now though - don’t need practitioners up in my face for cosmetic reasons. But I love them!

OrigamiOwl · 24/08/2020 10:34

I work a rotating shift pattern so have different days off each week which include weekdays. I plan on advance and it's never need an issue. But I accept my working hours are different to most people's.

I have tried all the tints/serums before having eyelash extensions and none of them have me the look that I wanted. I think it depends on the look you want... If you want subtle try a lash lift. If you want something more dramatic then I'd recommend extensions.

Eyebrow waxing is the only other treatment I get.

sleepwhenidie · 24/08/2020 10:58

Tried once and hated the feel of them and I think I’m quite clumsy with my eyes so maybe rubbed the so that they started falling out more quickly than they should have. Lashes awful afterwards - on the other hand I love a good (must be a good therapist) lash lift and tint.
