Implant vs coil

I have endo and I've been advised that either the implant or the coil will help. Would love to hear about your experiences.

I'm really worried about my skin which has only just started settling down after stopping breastfeeding a year ago, despite being back on the same pill I was on before I had my DS.

i’ve got the implant now. it hasn’t affected my skin but it’s made me extremely angry so i’m getting it out next week

If you don’t like it, you can get the coil out much more easily. I have a copper coil (no hormones). I don’t love it really. I’d much rather be on the pill but I’m in my 40s and was on the pill for 20 years and I’m done having babies. But at least if I wanted it out, it’s easy to do.

Had the implant, now have coil. Would definitely go for coil again - having it put in is unpleasant but then you can forget about it for 5 years. After 18 months on the implant I was bleeding a lot, and I think it affected my moods - it's a higher amount of hormones.

I had the implant it worked very well as contraceptive as I bleed for 6 months so couldn't have sex.
Copper coil was good but for two days a month I felt like I was going to bleed to death and couldn't leave the house as I needed to be near a loo.
Mirena coil complete game changer absolutely love it. No periods (odd day of spotting) and feel great.

I have an implant. It hasn’t affected my skin or made me angry or moody or anything like that. I had no periods for the first year and then they’ve been monthly since then but light and not painful. They were excruciating before to the point of me passing out from the pain and really heavy too. It does seem to have completely killed off my sex drive though which is why I will probably try something else when it’s time to have it replaced.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, I was leaning towards an implant but not liking the idea of six month bleeding!

I have the implant and I love it. Had it for about 15 years now and the only downside is that I go for months without a period, then when they come they can be quite long (maybe a month or so). Most of the time they're normal though, around 5/6.

Everyone is different though OP, so you may not have any problems at all.

(I can't speak for the coil. I'm not allowed it because I've got two uterous's)

I had the implant, I’d had acne before but 6 months later it was cystic. I found this to be something other people had also had. The dr took it out but it wouldn’t settle so I took roaccutane.

If you do use it ask the dr if they’ll take it out on request. My hairdressers gf had hers out privately after two months as he said she was literally swelling before his eyes but the gp wanted her to give it 6 months.

I'm happy with my copper coil. Dont need to think about it for 10 years. My periods took a little getting used to, as they're heavy (like they were pre pill/injection). But I no longer have spotty skin nor bloated tummy, due to no hormones in the copper coil.

Fucking hated the implant, made me moody angry and irrational. Great contraceptive tho cos my husband hated me and I was constantly bleeding Sad
