On line/Zoom therapy?

My student daughter has always been anxious, but has become much worse since lockdown. We are looking for some on line therapy/CBT, to hopefully help her to change her thought patterns from negative to more positive ones to help her to cope. I am not sure where to start to find somebody suitable though, it is very difficult to choose someone from the internet. I would be really, really grateful for any recommendations.
Thank you.

Hi! I'd really recommend looking on the BACP website. This is where registered counsellors are, although they will be private so there will be a fee. However, there will be a significantly shorter waiting list (if any at all) than going through the NHS . You can select your location as well as concern you need support with (e.g. anxiety). You can then read a bio about each counsellor. I've sent off a quick email to a couple of potential counsellors and we have spoken over the phone to discuss my needs and whether they'd be suitable, and these conversations shouldn't be charged. I've been receiving CBT via Zoom during lockdown and it's been very good.
Alternatively, you can contact "Therapy for you" which is a free counselling service however the waiting lists are unfortunately very long.
Alternatively, contact your local Mind branch to see it they provide any counselling services. Search "local Mind and the area you live in" to find out you closest one.
It's wonderful you're supporting your daughter and I hope you can find a good counsellor xx

I would start with just finding a therapist. BACP is a good place to search for qualified psychotherapists, though I don’t know if there is something similar that’s specific to CBT practitioners.

I had to find a therapist back in May when lockdown was much tighter than it is now. I found 3 possibilities on BACP and contacted them. It was very obvious after a phone conversation which was the right fit for me. I started socially distanced sessions in June. Most normal therapists who may be seeing some clients face to face will also do remote sessions. Everyone does things remotely now, so if that’s what you prefer just ask. It should be very easy to set up. It’s helped me a lot and I really wouldn’t be discouraged because it’s all potentially remote. If it can help her, no reason to delay.

Our 14 year old is currently having online therapy, I arranged it via www.clinical-partners.co.uk/ they have been really helpful and her therapist is absolutely lovely.

Its very early on but I'm really hoping for an improvement in her depression and anxiety.

Just to say,it's private as I know there would be very little chance of getting anything via the NHS, she is not severe at all. And I wasn't willing to wait the year or more it would take to be seen xx

Let’s talk well-being for your area. Fab free telephone and online CBT resources via NHS. You can self-refer.

Thank you so much fussy and RAOK, these both sound great options for me to explore.
