I'm just wondering how school is for your kids and you? Any tips to pass on to the rest of us?
I've heard absolutely nothing from my DS school. Literally not a single email or message. I also work as lab technician in a secondary school and have also not heard from my employer either?!

Our lot are meant to wear masks on the bus?

SusansSassySidePony · 21/08/2020 14:02

The bus company (which is independent) is enforcing masks on our school buses. But the school isn't enforcing masks anywhere.

My son's High school is doing all the things mentioned by PPs with the addition of timetable changes for senior pupils to limit movement between classrooms. The poor souls have had all double periods converted to quadruple periods! DS has ADHD and is struggling a bit, especially with quadruple Maths first thing, very glad he's now on medication, he likes the long classes for his creative subjects. The timetable changes every week on a three week rotation, they must be someone on the SMT who loves spreadsheets!

" the school isn't enforcing masks anywhere."

They can't enforce it; as it stands wearing masks is only optional in schools.

Hats off to all these kids doing quadruple classes. I always remember dreading a double as it felt so long and deary. I can’t imagine the teachers are liking as much be hard to keep motivation up enough to get same teaching in a quadruple class as in 4 singles. Needs must I suppose but arrrgg

DD just started P1 and is already off with a snotty cold and awaiting the results of a covid test! I think most likely negative but I think we are all going to have a lot of this. But going well generally, I am satisfied with safety measures and we had great communication from the school throughout.

Primary here and great so far. They’re all so obviously happy to be back and it’s not so different as to upset them. Ours are allowed bags as they have cubbyholes to keep them in. They wear gym kit all day on gym days and are kept in 3 class bubbles in the playground.

I think there will inevitably be absences as kids have to be tested, and outbreaks, but I’m confident the school will be able to deal with it.

@WhalesBail yes, i feel for the teachers too, I'd need to lie down in a darkened room after teaching four hours (break falls in the middle luckily). DS3s Maths teacher took them for a walk at one point!
