Teen anorexia and what help would be... well most helpful?

Looking to pick your brains really.

Particularly if you had anorexia or disordered eating as a teen.... can I ask, what 'help' was 'most helpful' from adults and or professionals around you?

And

What DIDN'T help?

What really aids teens recovery from eating disorders ?

Thanks

It depends whether said teen is on the autistic spectrum or not...

A lot of undiagnosed autistic females restrict their eating to quite extreme degrees but the therapies they are offered are completely traumatising for people with ASD such as group talking therapies etc.

If neurotypical, a good place to start is the ED charity Beat.

Dr Pooky Hesmondhalgh (eating disorders specialist and recovered anorexic) has a very informative YouTube channel which could help too.

Pooky’s surname is Knightsmith.

@Iwonder777 I was anorexic from 11-14. For me the only thing that worked was hospitalisation. I needed the intense day-to-day therapy that came with being admitted. I'd had about 2-3 years of weekly therapy before being admitted and it did very little for me. Being in hospital was horrible though, but in a way that aided my recovery as it was a real wake up call to how my life could be if I didn't get better. My overriding feeling when I left was 'I'll do anything not to go back there!'

So helpful thank you.
I know very little about anorexia in truth.
