Do you have anything ‘everyday’ that is now worth money?

We have been having a bit of a clear our and I was going through my books. I have a signed copy of a popular book so I thought it might be worth £50 or so but it’s worth closer to £1000. DH has a video game that he bought from the bargain bucket that is now worth £500!

Both of these items were just regular everyday things.

Do you have anything that you bought for normal money that has gone up in value?

Yes I think we have some obscure books that are now worth something. I don't recall which but my husband did tell me in case something happened to him - I should have listened harder clearly!

I always hope got my old vinyl being worth more but it never is.

Interesting thread. I tend to have a good clear out every couple of years so doubt we have anything valuable that I don't know about, but you never know.

Artwork. Bought it because I liked it. It’s been sat in a carrier bag with some tissue paper and cardboard for seven years, through four house moves, waiting to be framed (specialist size).

I paid £140 for four of them. DH looked the other day online and they’re now selling for £400 each. Artist isn’t dead or anything, not famous just limited edition and signed.

May actually have to frame them now. Confused

I’ve got a few charity shop pieces of pottery that I bought for a couple of quid. Now fetching £40+ so never going to allow me to retire but it’s a nice return.
I’ve got some 1960s Tupperware too that people seem to like...no idea if it’s worth that much though.

My mum bought an original Peter Blake for not much money. She has it in the loft somewhere......

Art mainly, but some musical instruments that were an investment.
A 19th century child rocking chair, thought would be worth about £100 tops, it's 2k on an antiques website.
A full collection of Giles annuals right from the first one, worth quite a lot.
Silver, some war memorabilia passed down the family.
Some rarer china passed from generations ago, a real Romany collection. Grin
Yes, quite a bit, just trying to get it all out of the loft Grin

A couple of daft well used toys, of this era (they were based on tv characters, nothing collectable like Star Wars figures). I'd originally bought them in a discount clearance store for about £5 a few years a go, listed them for 99p and they went for £30+ each. I was pretty hard up then and I was really grateful for the money which went on school shoes.

I have Lego but it's all been built. I wish I could afford to buy 2 sets so I could keep one boxed!

An 80s Rolling Stones tour t-shirt. Can sell for £200.
