Why is not eating so bloody hard??

Trying to lose a couple of stone here but it’s just so hard.
I’m trying to do 16:8 and increasing my fruit and veg and reduce the amount of processed sugary food.
Since 12pm I’ve had a bowl of muesli with blueberries and a wrap with salad and feta and lentil curl crisp things. It’s plenty of food, I’m not hungry and I don’t want to eat until dinner but I just keep wanting to go to the kitchen and get a snack.
Tips for staying strong would be appreciated please.

Have a drink of something. I'm drinking a cup of tea to stop me from eating anything

peachypetite · 20/08/2020 14:41

Not much protein there.

coldcolder · 20/08/2020 14:41

It's probably not good for you, but I'm snacking on sugar free chewing gum. After a few months my will power is down though, and I'm giving in to urges to eat nice things. My slight saving grace is that after a decent late lunch I find it fairly easy not to eat a 3rd meal.

A cup of tea or water doesn't really do it for me!

YorkshireTeaIsTheBest · 20/08/2020 14:43

Drink -iced tea.

For me it is carbs -I've been very low carbs for about two weeks and it helps reduced my cravings

CarrotPuff · 20/08/2020 14:45

I snack when I'm bored. Find something to distract yourself.

Also water suppressed appetite, so drink a large glass.

You can also try drinking a cup of tea or Diet Coke or something. Not the healthiest thing but it will give you a bit of taste without the calories.

Hang in there, you can do this 💪🏼

Brokensunrise · 20/08/2020 14:45

Keep drinking lots of water and up your protein! Muesli won’t cut it! Do you eat eggs?

OuterSpaceGirl · 20/08/2020 14:46

My food has been a bit low in protein and carby today, true. Argh. I just want to do easy meals. I don’t eat eggs and anything else seems a faff.

Miso soup. Salty, savoury deliciousness. I put 2-3 pieces of dried seaweed in a cup of it. It's very, very low calorie, but I feel like I've had 'something'.

KatherineJaneway · 20/08/2020 14:51

Lots of water and up your protein intake.

LinManWellWellWell · 20/08/2020 15:10

I tried 16:8 and it gave me a horrific migraine which lasted 6 days. I’m now back on slimming world - half a stone down in 3 weeks and I can eat when I’m hungry. Soooo much better.

LoeliaPonsonby · 20/08/2020 15:14

You’re bored. Go and find something to do!

Franticbutterfly · 20/08/2020 15:19

My only tip is to eat a huge bowl of salad and some eggs.

GreyishDays · 20/08/2020 15:21

How is that not much protein? Unless you’re trying to do keto it looks ok?

Milk and nuts in a bowl of muesli
Feta
Lentil crisps (what are they?!)

Focalpoint · 20/08/2020 15:21

Eating protein at all meals stops me snacking as I feel full.

TweetUsOnFacebook · 20/08/2020 15:26

I keep cooked chicken breast in the fridge for those really hard moments. I couple of chunks along with a big glass of water keeps me going.

Oldbagface · 20/08/2020 15:35

I know someone who keeps cooked veg such as broccoli in the fridge and munches on a peice when wanting a snack.

I'm trying to stay at my current weight so I've had boiled egg on toast today. Will have dinner soon. Not sure what. Lentil curry or something just as tasty.

Oldbagface · 20/08/2020 15:36

Oooh forgot to say. Lots of water

potter5 · 20/08/2020 15:37

I love the lentil curly crisps - sour cream and chive ones.

I snack on crab sticks. They are tasty and no fat or sugar.

OuterSpaceGirl · 20/08/2020 15:42

Thank you everyone.
@GreyishDays milk was coconut milk, feta was about 4 cubes of 1inch each. Lentil crisps are really crisps made with lentil flour and potato starch. I’m a crisp addict so am trying a low calorie alternative.

I’ve had water and sat in the garden for a bit. The urges seemed to have faded a bit now Smile

Dinner is chicken based so lots of protein there.

I’m doing fast 800 and honestly fine, not hungry nor craving anything. For me the key seems to be eating enough protein, fats and greens ( half a plate of greens with lunch and dinner). The more carbs I eat, the worse any cravings and hunger would be. I was finding it so much harder eating 1400 cals a day and struggling with hunger, cravings, obsessing with food. If you’d have told me I could not struggle on only 800 cals I’d have thought you were nuts. The difference now is what I’m eating.

The muesli and wrap and possibly even the lentil curls will be affecting your blood sugar and making it spike. The blueberries should be fine but increasing fruit isn’t a great idea at this stage. I only eat berries and occasionally apple and pear. I promise you that if you try balancing your blood sugar more effectively that it won’t be even the slightest bit difficult.

OuterSpaceGirl · 20/08/2020 15:49

@NameChange84 that sounds good. Can you tell me what kind of things you eat for breakfast and lunch please?

Are you able to do something emotionally fulfilling rather than snacking? Phone a friend, read a good book, watch a film etc

You are aware that you aren’t hungry, it’s just a habit. Filling some kind of void. Keep telling yourself you only need to eat when hungry.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 20/08/2020 15:52

Get rid of the snacks so that the temptation is removed.

FlosCampi · 20/08/2020 15:55

I agree with namechange84, it's things like muesli and fruit that secretly have lots of sugars! I'm also doing 16:8 and the blood sugar diet, so 800 calories and yes I'm hungry before meals, but eggs, mushrooms, salmon was lunch yum! And fat fills you up as well as protein.
