Isn't the fact the schools are due back a reason to make sure SD is done right now?

Rather than the reverse?

I keep seeing people saying it's all pointless, I or my children will be mixing with 100s within a couple of weeks etc.

But isn't that why it's important that we do social distancing right now, so that the rates being taken into schools are as low as possible, in the hope that schools returning doesn't create a new wave, rather than a reason to decide it's all pointless?

I would have thought it's bloody obvious that the measures are to prevent rises and obviate need for further lockdowns.

And cases are (gently) rising, despite the sun still being at a strong angle. This is the time to get the grumbling over and get the precautions as second nature.

Yes. That would be the common sense approach. I can’t see it happening.

I agree but here people are meeting up with school friends who will be in the same bubble outdoors. Honestly the kids need it and they'll be tighter in 2 weeks.

I just don't think there is any chance of the government locking down. It's Economy first now.

Anyone with an ounce of sense knows that the 'bubbles' are just paying lip service and in reality due to the size of bubbles, small classrooms and public transport children will be mixing with a lot of other children. It is highly likely that there will be a rise in numbers and children could spread the virus to vulnerable adults even if they don't get very ill themselves.

There is evidence that people don't seem to be getting as ill from the virus now and if they do treatment is better than it was. I really hope this is the case as children do need to go to school. I just wish the government were a little more cautious and opened the schools slowly and carefully.

I feel they are going full steam ahead, so they can say 'look we have opened schools full time like we said we would' only to have to close them all again in October causing further disruption.

I'm still waiting for a last minute update to say that schools actually aren't going back full time at all, aren't the school teachers unions working on it?
