Essential oils - where?

doadeer · 19/08/2020 16:21

I used to buy oils for my diffuser, which I use every day, from doterra. I didn't really register that they were a MLM company - id rather not support that.

Does anyone have any recommendations. I like pure oils and blends too. I loved the doterra passion and cheer, plus their holiday joy blend.

Holland and Barrett sell oils and some Tisserand blends.

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 19/08/2020 17:22

Holland and Barrett and Tisserand are both excellent.

I've been ordering the super cheap freshkin and mystic moments (?) from Amazon but I don't think they are very good quality. Am not looking for cures or anything, just want the smell to last....

Bluntness100 · 19/08/2020 17:30

I buy the large bottles from mystic moments on amazon, smell great and very cost effective.

WelshMoth · 19/08/2020 18:20

AromaWorks do some gorgeous blends but can be pricey.

I buy single oils from Fresh Skin - on Amazon or their own website. Reasonably priced and great quality.

What are your favourites OP? I'm always interested in other people's blends.

WelshMoth · 19/08/2020 18:21

@TenCornMaidens I think Fresh Skin is decent quality. How do you use your oils?

TheParrotsBeak · 19/08/2020 18:33

I buy fresh skin oils and think they're really good quality- I've never had any problems with them and compared them to my much more expensive oils from starchild. Slight difference in scent with some but very very similar and good quality

lachy · 19/08/2020 19:17

I get my Tisserand oils from Amazon when they are on the Deal of the Day.

doadeer · 19/08/2020 19:19

@WelshMoth

I like a variety of smells, it depends what mood I'm in! The doterra blend I love has this in, it's sort of sweet and sexy (ha) type smell good for a date!

Passion
Cardamom Seed, Cinnamon Bark, Ginger Rhizome, Clove Bud, Sandalwood Wood, Jasmine Flower Absolute, Vanilla Bean Absolute, Damiana Leaf

I'm also a fan of cheer which for me has a Christmas smell

Cheer
Wild Orange Peel, Clove Bud, Star Anise Fruit/Seed, Lemon Myrtle Leaf, Nutmeg Kernel, Vanilla Bean Extract, Ginger Rhizome, Cinnamon Bark, Zdravetz Herb

And finally I like woody, alpine blends with pine as the main smell.

What about you?

I guess I feel like I use, say, 7 drops when I think I should only have to use 3 and the smell isn't very strong. I'm not sure what I'm comparing it to, though? It's not like I'm a connoisseur! Grin

There are loads in TJ Maxx right now. I bought some Aroma Works ones yesterday (they have single bottles, duos and trios). Other brands too including Tisserand.

I think you can purchase online if you don’t live near a store.

WelshMoth · 19/08/2020 21:10

@doadeer wow you're using oils that I've never heard of. Are the all essential oils and not fragrance oils?

I blend a maximum of 3 oils and vary the quantities.

Citrus oils are my favourite so I'm a
Frequent user of wild orange, lime, mandarin, lemon, lemongrass, may cheng, grapefruit, bergamot. I like to blend 2 citrus with one another (lime and mandarin is lovely, grapefruit and bergamot).

Also love orange and neroli.

Lavender and rose geranium is lovely and I sometimes add in patchouli if I can be bothered to wait (my dropper only that bottle takes a bloody age).

I've got frankincense and sandalwood but I don't use them very much although I'd like too.

Sometimes I add tea tree (just a couple of drops) to a blend and it brings a real lift/clean dimension to the aroma.

WelshMoth · 19/08/2020 21:12

Thanks @Pinotpleasure I quite like the AromaWorks but they're usually pricey.

MrsMaryBOOface · 19/08/2020 21:14

Doterra are horrendously overpriced.

Amphora Aromatics supply to both wholesale and retail, and are used by aroma therapists and used in training schools. Very competitively priced.

Fozzleyplum · 19/08/2020 21:17

I get mine here.

AllTheWorldIsGreen · 19/08/2020 21:24

You can order essential oils online from Baldwin's. It is a lovely, lovely south London company that's been going since 1844.

ThatLibraryMiss · 19/08/2020 21:30

id Aromatics in Leeds is lovely. They have a huge range of oils and a good turnover so they're fresh.

WelshMoth · 19/08/2020 22:20

I've not heard of these suppliers before. I'll give them a go!

Can I ask, out if curiosity, how do you all use your oils? Is it for home / hobby use?

What are your favourite blends? X

everythingbackbutyou · 20/08/2020 09:36

But Doterra oils are made with the fresh tears of virgin unicorns plus they are that pure grade or whatever it is they created and then awarded to themselves Confused I have an acquaintance who is very evangelical about her MLM...

sueelleker · 20/08/2020 10:15

I use them at home; my husbands suffers from stress-related seizures, so I use the Tisserand De-Stress blend in a diffuser at night. He also sometimes suffers from digestive upsets, so I then add some peppermint oil to it. I'd like to use them as room fresheners downstairs, but we have 2 dogs, and a lot of the oils are toxic to animals; so I only use them upstairs where the animals don't go.

C130 · 20/08/2020 10:15

I get mine from Akoma Skincare Uk. They have a wide range of lovely oils.

ThatLibraryMiss · 20/08/2020 19:12

I put lemon oil in the dishwasher just after it's finished, while it's still hot. Just drop the oil onto the inside of the door, shut the door for a few minutes to let it evaporate in the heat then open it and pull the drawers out to let everything dry. It keeps the dishwasher smelling fresh and makes the house smell lovely.

fairydustandpixies · 20/08/2020 19:39

Tisserand

That’s a great idea.👍🏻
