Are your vets allowing clients in yet?

Just wondering really. Our vets are still consulting in the surgery car parks and will be for some time yet.

I think the only exception is for pts.

Consulting outside is working quite well IMO but not sure if it will still work once the colder days and dark evenings set in.

Took cat to vet around 6 weeks ago and tbh it was all normal. You wouldn't have known there was a pandemic. I like our vet she's ace and very down to earth!

Not allowed in. It’s been a real issue as our cat has undiagnosed problems and we’ve had to play telephone and email tag with the vet trying to get answers to questions. I agree with Petronas, it’s better than nothing but it’s really not great. And if she has to be PTS we won’t be able to be with her, which will feel such a betrayal of an animal who trusts us.

Ours is doing minimum clients inside. So it's essentially people without cars and pets being PTS.

People without cars are not allowed into the consult room as they are tiny. For PTS they seem to be using the staff room as it's bigger and it gives space for the vet and one person allowed in to SD as much as possible.

They also have numbered parking bays and they've split the vets and vet nurses so they are doing set bays, the same ones are doing all the walk ins etc and the staff are not mixing in the building except in bubbles. To try and have it so that if one staff member is ill they can stay open for emergencies

Our usual vets are still doing car park handovers. We're not happy with that as it's on a really busy main road so you can't actually hold a sensible conversation due to traffic noise. So we've started using the vets inside Pets at Home. They allow two people at a time, you have to sit at opposite ends of the waiting area outside the two surgeries that are in use. A far more pleasant experience than a rainy, noisy car park.

user1471453601 I'm sorry your about your dog but it does matter where my dog is seen - not the location but if I'm there. Pre covid he had an anal abscess - I had to hold him while it was drained - several times - I held him tight and he trusted me to protect him - it was clearly very uncomfortable for him but he trusted me and did not fear the vet. Covid treatment, distanced from me saw him develop a real fear of the vet - for a condition that was nowhere near as uncomfortable and the communications with the vet were nowhere near as fluid. I am grateful he was seen but we will now struggle with vet visits.
