Any NHS HR bods around?

WFH for the last two months. Tendered my resignation last Wednesday. No acknowledgement from line manager at all. This isn’t uncommon, it’s one of the main reasons I looked for another job, she never replies or answers the phone unless she absolutely has to.

I’m on a 4 week notice period. Do I need to do anything else? She has my resignation, our policy doesn’t cover this it just says resignation should be in writing to line manager.

At this rate I’ll be leaving without even a conversation. I wonder how long it will be until someone notices I don’t work there anymore?!

I’d forward your resignation on to HR and let him know when it was sent to your manager. Resignation is not accepted until it has been responded to.

I thought resignation was valid from the day it was tendered not acknowledged.

What would stop managers from just ignoring to drag out notice period?

@AnAchosEmployers have to respond to a resignation for it to be accepted, until it has been accepted the employee still has time to rescind. There are sometimes situations where you may have a difficult employee and advice is to acknowledge receipt ASAP - just an email saying it’s been received and they’ll receive a fuller reply which confirms leaving protocol shortly.

Also re notice period bring worked, it isn’t unusual to negotiate and agree an earlier date to leave.
