Outside (small) kids party - yes or no?

Would you have a small party for a 7 year old at the moment? Socially distanced, 3/4 other kids, all in large garden? (Kids all in same school 'bubble').

Yes. I’m planning the same for my 5 year old.

KitKatastrophe · 18/08/2020 09:28

I would

Yes, they'll be in a classroom together soon enough.

Yes, a group of fewer than 6 outdoors (except loos) and ideally with activities that can be done with minimal close contact (and sanitizer if touching same objects) them fine.

So frisbee and (French) cricket, rather than wrestling and rugby!

yes, it is good for the kids to see friends and play

I got crucified by a doctor friend for suggesting it for my kid. So... I think yes its fine but be prepared for plenty of judgement.

I've organised a bouncy castle, bought a range of packaged party snacks, crisps, bottle drinks, mini packs of Haribo etc and sent out a very casual invite to about 8 people to drop in sometime whilst the bouncy castle's there. I'm hoping for a sort of casual "open house" effect with only a couple of people at any one time but we'll see!!

Not unreasonable to try to organise something now, whilst we're able to stay outside more.

Depends how well you know the parents. I’m glad mine are too old for parties as would feel very awkward declining invites.

We've had a few outside party invitations which we've happily accepted and attended. DS has missed 6 months of interaction and all the children absolutely loved it. It is so nice to hear them laughing and playing together.

We've also had a few indoor playdates with friends individually (DS and us Grin)

Mine are too old for this now but I'd be fine with it, my view is that I want to make the most of the weather now as meeting up outdoors will be much harder in autumn and winter.

DailyKegelReminder · 18/08/2020 10:39

Yes I would. I have been to 3 like this so far and not felt uncomfortable.

Icingandflowersonthecake · 18/08/2020 10:57

Thanks all- I was feeling OK about it but wondered what the general opinion was... I've kept it to a few kids in DC's class as that seems logical - they'll soon be at school together anyway (likely in less distanced circumstances!).
