Transferring numbers same network

I’ve used CPW for 20 years and through a myriad of upgrades and networks I’ve kept my number. They’ve always sorted this out.
Now I’m going alone I am currently tempted by an 02 deal on mobilephonesdirect. If I’m currently o2 but not upgrading through them would I still need a PAC code to keep my number?

AFAIK if you're staying on the same mobile network, you don't need a PAC code.

Hi there, I know it's not o2 but my husband was with EE and saw a deal on USwitch for a new phone also with EE he went for the deal and cancelled his existing contract and thought he could switch numbers but unfortunately they said they couldn't do this so he ended up with a new number. Not sure if this is any help

I would port it to a pay go to keep it safe - I have heard too many stories of these third party phone sellers saying to people they will be able to keep their number only for it to be cut off, they will tell you anything to get the sale.

I remember having to port my number to another network to then port it to the new deal on the first network I.e. was with EE, ported it to Vodafone and then back to EE. Depends on the provider as to whether they can swap the number to the new deal

This is the safest way to do it. These third party companies really will tell you anything.

Just as an aside, have you tried o2 themselves for a better deal?

The only way to keep your number is to port it to a pay as you go sim and then transfer it back, I had to do this at the beginning of the year, its a right ball ache 🙄

Thanks @Flynn2019 that's what I was worried would happen. Thanks for the link but 02 seem to only make it easy to ho payg to PM or vice versa within the network I may just port it
