Noticed yesterday my ring has gone missing from inside my candle holder
Dh took candle out that was in them to light at weekend when we had guests and put in bathroom , he also had a quick tidy up before people came round whilst i was food shopping
Turned house upside down looking for ring now my only place to look is the wheelie bin as was a receipt also with ring , he insists he hasn't thrown away , i know it wAs there just under 2 weeks ago
Would you delve in your wheelie bin to try and find it or just accept it as lost?
All stuff in wheelie bin is in individual bags but fornightly collection here so rubbish week and half old ?
We have very little food waste in there as most goes in food waste bin maybe odd scrap from teenagers

I'd delve away - but that's just me, I am determined to look for lost things.

HouchinBawbags · 17/08/2020 16:23

I'd do it. But I am super attached to my wedding ring because it's made from gold from my late grandmas and it's also gold from my mum's wedding ring.

Many a time have I have to delve in the wheelie bin!! Last time to find DD last contraceptive patch which I had put in recycling bin as thought it was an empty box 😱 the thought of her getting pregnant because she was unprotected was an incentive to find it 😂

RubyFakeLips · 17/08/2020 16:39

Had to do this recently, an we do have food waste.

In the end ring was found in seal of washing machine.

Think I am going to have to but we have a dog As well !!! Although we dpuble bag his and then put in another bag not usually a black bag so should be able to avoid. Not looking forward to it but only explanation other than the dog having ate it !!! But he's a fussy dog so sure he hasn't consumed it .
One bin just has one bag in so hoping in this , the other bin is full
Our recycling open boxes and I have already checked in there
I have ocd with germs so may have to put on some old clothes and then bin them !!! I think dh should do as hes the only one who could of binned but he is adamant that he hasn't thrown away . Wish me luck

Rubber gloves, goggles, one of those dinky little face masks we've all got knocking about these days, and yes, I'd go diving and then bin the stuff afterwards. At least then you'd know for sure. Good luck! (And you could always ask St Anthony if he can help you retrieve it, daft as it might sound. I have also been known to yell at the top of the voice to our resident ghost[s] to give me my doorkeys back when they've hidden them. ;))

LittleHootie · 17/08/2020 16:46

Yeah I would.

Els1e · 17/08/2020 16:48

Yep, I would

Notfeelinggreattoday · 17/08/2020 16:49

If i find it in there , i've said he can finally get me an eternity ring for binning it and making me go through the rubbish
Why do you never realise these things before as if i had spotted straight Away would be very little waste in there .

You can't have OCD with gerns
MaggieFS · 17/08/2020 16:59

I would, but only because foods waste is separate so the refuse wheelie bin, whilst not pleasant, is not a grim as it could be. Outdoor job, mucky clothes, rubber gloves, spread an old sheet on the ground. Good luck!
(I don't think I could ever go through the food waste bin)

PatricksRum · 17/08/2020 17:00

Germs even

Notfeelinggreattoday · 17/08/2020 17:19

I meant my ocd is triggered immensely with thought of germs of which i know there can be many in the bins ( in my head i can imagine every possible one and disease associated with it) although my logical side knows I am not eating it etc and i will have gloves on etc
I have a confirmed diagnosis of odd so not just a little squemish , my bins are pretty clean though as o have them cleaned monthly and also use a large bin bag in them and every item that also goes in is bagged .
