Hair loss, dizziness & fatigue HELP

Emilyjane94 · 17/08/2020 15:00

I’m so fed up of feeling like this constantly tired it’s extreme where I could just fall to sleep at any time. My hairs falling out and I feel dizzy all the time. I’ve had bloods done.
B12 was borderline I have had 4 injections now and still feel the same no improvement.

My iron levels are 21 and doctor said this was on the low side but still within normal range he did say anything below 20 was anaemic. Could this be what is causing me to feel like this?

They just keep fobbing me off saying it’s because I have 2 small children 1 & 3! I need answers and getting no where with docs! Xxxx

I’d just get some over the counter supplements + improved my diet. It might take at least a couple of weeks but I’m sure you’ll see improvements.

Thyroid? Perimenopause?

Newgirls · 17/08/2020 15:15

I am badly b12 deficient- my score was 60 and >200 is low. I did not feel better for a while however I noticed on my results they told me my folate was 'normal' the range is 4-20 and mine was 4! I dont class that as normal tbh and without folate the B12 cant actually be used in the body they work together. I now take 5mg folic acid daily as the score needs to be in the 3rd quartile if on B12 injections. I would check your folate! X

I’ve had a full blood count done and all was normal. I’m only 25, I’ve been feeling like this ever since I was pregnant with my youngest he’s now 1. It’s awful feeling tired and dizzy all the time with 2 little ones to look after.
I have been taking multivitamins but still feel the same.

Second post I've commented this on today but google POTS and suggest to the doctor x

Mangofandangoo · 17/08/2020 15:22

Get your thyroid checked pronto ( Hashimotos sufferer here and you have listed several of the symptoms)

Mangofandangoo · 17/08/2020 15:23

Make sure they test your thyroid, thyroid antibodies, t3 and t4 all of which aren't in a normal blood test - they will fob you off

Emilyjane94 · 17/08/2020 15:24

I will speak to my doctor tomorrow and ask what my folate is x

Are you definitely eating enough calories?

Msgiggles30 · 17/08/2020 16:01

Yes ask for your results as they say normal but when you actually look at the ranges one point lower and youd be deficient 🤦‍♀️. I was like it for about 2 years before they found the b12 as they dont always do it when they do bloods so now I have perm pins and needles in my feet. I was falling asleep at the laptop end the end of a work day and slurring when teaching by a Friday but thought it was just my demanding job! X

I had these symptoms and it was a vitamin D deficiency.

Emilyjane94 · 17/08/2020 16:37

Thankyou all for your replies, I have an appointment over the telephone with a dr tomorrow. Hopefully takes me seriously and can get to the bottom of how I’m feeling. Feel like I’m living in a nightmare. Just want to feel normal again xx

Agree with the thyroid posts, I have just been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid and I have/had all of these as symptoms. Maybe check the nhs website and see if any of the other symptoms also apply? Hope it gets sorted and you feel better soon! X

I'd start taking a liquid iron supplement - Spatone, Floradix, Ferroglobin or Blue Iron. Spatone probably works best for me. Take it with vitamin C and then avoid tea for a few hours, as the tannins impair iron absorption. Ask for thyroid tests as well though.

Check the carbon monoxide levels in your house & also in your car - buy the most sensitive detector you can find. Although they are not brilliant at reliably picking up levels that are below the "alarm" threshold (but still capable of doing harm), they are a lot better than nothing at all. And remember that cars can be just as dangerous as houses - we were poisoned by a leaking car exhaust for years.

earlyr1ser · 17/08/2020 18:44

ps your GP can give you a blood test or a breath test to check CO levels in the body, but as they halve every four hours after exposure, you will need time the test to make sure that you can go straight from whatever environment may be exposing you, to the test, without delay.
