Fleas - help!!

Fleabagz · 17/08/2020 12:51

Hello,

My son went to a sleepover at his friends on Saturday and when he came back he had lots of little bites on his ankles.

They slept on the floor in the living room, and he told me he saw little black bugs on him and one jumped off - I'm assuming fleas??
Please see bite pics.

As soon as I got him in I washed everything he had taken and put him in the bath but this morning he has woken up with more bites on his arms and back. Does this mean he has brought them home? Or would they have take a while to come out?

Argh I don't know what to do!! How easy is it to get rid of fleas?? We don't have any pets but his friend has a cat.

Indorex spray for the home.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/08/2020 13:59

Yes indorex is the best, ring your nearest chemist they often sell it ime.

Those poor pets though, being bitten and no relief from it.

Trashtara · 17/08/2020 14:01

Yes, he's probably brought them home. 1 'pregnant' female can lay 50 eggs or more.

As above - indorex the house, you can buy it on amazon. Don't be tempted to get the cheaper Bob whatshisface shite, spend well, spend once. Also get a cheapo flea collar, cut in half and put in the hoover bag/ fluff collecting bit to kill any you hoover up.

We had a dreadful infestation of fleas one year, despite regular deflea treatment from the vets (advantage). We changed to a different one after that (preventix), but it can happen even when you are conscientious.

Thank you!
I have ordered some of this spray but it won't be here for a couple of days.
God I hope they don't spread all over the house!!

Hoover as much as possible, wash all his bedding, clothes, anything that went to friends house at 60 degrees. Then Indorex I cant remember the exact instructions for after indorex but follow the instructions which if I remember orrectly involves a lot more hoovering. As you have no pets you should be OK fairly soon as they don't actuqlly live on humans just bite and jump off.

I have brought a cheaper spray from Tesco in the meantime un-till the other arrives, washed all clothing he had with him (and mine from when I collected him), washed bedding, coat, sprayed trainers, hoovered bedrooms (I have laminate downstairs) put nit- lotion on his hair incase any lurking in there.
Urgh, I feel all itchy and horrible.
I'm presumably going to have to tell the parents too!

Thank you!

Hoover the laminate as well, its not really the live fleas that are the problem it is the eggs that can lay dormant for up to 2 years until something causes them to hatch the vibrations from the hoover can stimulate them to hatch which is actually what you want because then the spray can kill them.

Any vet will have a decent spray product, I just bought Indorex at medivet who charge double, but I was desperate! Follow the instructions, get everything washed and off the floor, Hoover, spray, close up the room then hoover again later.
