Baby doesn't like how ergobaby wrap holds head

Struggled to know where to post this but was hoping for some suggestions!

DD is nearly five weeks old. We have an ergo baby wrap which she has reasonably happily been in a few times. However, I've noticed that she seems to dislike how it holds her head, with it tucked in under the shoulder part. It can take quite a while to settle her, and I am wondering if a more structured carrier like the babybjorn mini or ergo omni 360 may offer a bit more space around her head, or allow her to wiggle it a bit more than the ergo does. I know her head needs supporting, but she is much happier if I don't tuck it in and support her head with my hand, for example. Ideally I'd like to have two hands free for short periods though!

Has anyone had a similar issue, or tried a sling/carrier which seems a bit less claustrophobic on their baby's head?

No sling libraries are open near me sadly.

I used a stretch wrap (similar wrt how the head tucks in to the side) when mine was a newborn and it was a nightmare trying to get her head in! She'd invariably get her head to the open part them throw out back, stressing me out. Not only was I worried about her neck but it was very sunny in April and I was worried about sunburn.

I splashed out and got the Ergo 360 mesh. As a newborn the head support comes right up high so she had no choice but to have her head supported. I must say she hated the restriction but I could relax and it gave me both hands free for scrabbling over rocks at the beach!

She can't find it uncomfortable as she always falls asleep when she's in there, even when she's desperately fighting sleep. I've found it a worthwhile purchase.

If baby is correctly positioned she should naturally curve around your chest and her head rest on the top of your chest, supporting their neck. I only put babies head in to the shoulder part once they were asleep.

Thanks both, that's really helpful. Glad it's not just my baby!

@Trashtara I must be doing it wrong, her head always needs supporting unless tucked in...will have a look at some more YouTube videos
