What can I do with the kids today?

Kids are 8 and 10. They've been pretty bored hanging around the house whilst I've been working from home and I'm desperate to get them out!

The weather is atrocious here, and we're not ones for going for walks anyway, so that's out. The museums and swimming pools are closed. DD wants to make a cake (happy to do that, but there goes my idea to go to a cafe for a slice of cake!!). Maybe the trampoline parks? But I'm pregnant so won't be able to join in with them! Please stop me from taking them to the cinema, all they do all day is stare at their screens Confused

Trampoline park and watch and relax with a book.

"Put your wellies on and go for a nature walk?" Grin Grin Grin

I am being sarcastic, just pre-empting the first poster to feel the need to day it despite you mentioning it and as though you weren't intellifent enough to have already have thought of that one and done it to death in nearly 5 months Wink

Not sure to be honest. Mask rule out indoors for me as I'm already having panic attacks over being indoors.

Cake while watching them trampoline sounds good.

I miss swimming.

@AnaadiNitya I'm tempted, double cake!! As long as they don't bring trampoline COVID back with them!

@BogRollBOGOF Honestly I was expecting the welly comment! I have my response of 'No, it's not fun, it's never fun' all ready Grin The kids also hate going for 'nice walks' which is a shame for them because they do it every single day when they're with their Dad. He likes them!

Games marathon - you could each choose a game so that will take a few hours then bake a cake and go out for cake too 😀

I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not op, but I have just hit upon a genius idea that is kind of helping with my 12 year old dd's. I have compiled an activity list, mostly my ideas but have asked for theirs too. These range from reading, project (art, or their choice) to knitting, craft, exercise, music, household jobs, walking etc etc. I have highlighted some of the choices that they need to do at least 2 if per day to earn treats & screen privileges but the rest are optional. Now if they are 'bored' I refer them to the list to choose an activity! It has taken away the excuse of there being 'nothing to do' and encourages them to occupy themselves, at least for a few hours per day.
As I say, not sure if it will help today, but just wanted to share Smile
