Water babies?

Does anyone have any experiences with water babies that they could share with me? I've received some info from them and they said that babies can start from birth (their youngest was 26 hours old 😮) does anyone have recommendations for a good age to start them? My instinct thought maybe 6 weeks or so.

Also, did you find it worth the cost? £160 for 10 sessions which go over 4 months, it looks like.

TIA!

There was a thread started on this a few days ago.

To reiterate, I have one in chapter 17 and one in chapter 5. Eldest has been able to swim independently since she was 3.

It is worth it for us.

Have a look around to see if there's any other local classes to you - where I am water babies is more expensive and not such great facilities eg. Only one changing room, no lockers, one toilet, shower not working ever. I wasn't that keen on our instructor either. Alternatively there was another one locally that was still at a private pool but had individual family changing rooms, long lessons and was cheaper

@Marmite27 ah, I did search but it only pulled up posts from 2012/2013 - if you could link me, that would be great!

I had a negative experience. Our class teacher was lovely but the sessions took place at a swimming pool which was cold and had poor changing facilities. Lessons were short and the whole experience was just overpriced

@CCSS15 thanks, that's definitely worth looking into!

I didn't post on the other one, but DS and I loved it!!! Ours was in a local hydrotherapy pool, so the water was super warm, like getting into a warm (not hot) bath, much warmer than a swimming pool. As a PP has mentioned, comfort is important and makes a big difference. Sometimes they offer free trial lessons so you can try it out?

It is eyewateringly expensive though and we only did 2 terms till we switched to the local council lessons. They are fine, not as good as Waterbabies, but they are a quarter of the price. We started at 6 weeks, remember that you may not feel up to swimming so soon after birth, but by 6 weeks I was fine.

Lovely, thanks @Marmite27 !

@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee that does sound nice - think I'd prefer a warm pool for myself as well! A free trial would be good, I'll have to see if ours offer that. Thanks!
