Who else failed dinner? What did your (6+month) baby or toddler have for dinner?

I tried to make a big veg curry with butter beans, coconut milk and tomatoes with a range of spices (not too hot).

What happened?
Veg didn't go soft enough despite cooking for ages (not enough liquid- I know now), ran out of time. Was too hot so ended up mixing loads of yoghurt with the rice but he didn't want to be spoon-fed but also didnt want to hold the spoon either and so the rice and yoghurt mostly went on the floor! Ended up steaming some of the veg to get it softer, dousing it in cold water to get it to the right temperature. Most of it went all over the floor ANYWAY and we ended up having some plum and yoghurt. 🤦‍♀️
He did have some butter beans though.

Anyone else have a bit of a failed dinner? Better if it took ages to make and you missed out on other chores or playtime. 10 points for that!

I made pork meatballs with spaghetti and tomato sauce. It was delicious. Well, the adults thought so. Dd(5) only ate plain spaghetti with cheese, dd (8 months) threw it round the room and enjoyed the artistic potential of tomato sauce, but not the nutritional aspect. So a fail from my children's pov.

Dinner tonight was unusually uneventful. However, toddler DS has a lovely new habit that makes mealtimes most annoying. He puts the food in his mouth to make you think he's eating it, chews it up into a paste that sets onto the highchair/floor like bloody concrete and then RAKES it off his tongue with his hand onto himself and his surroundings. It doesn't seem to matter whether he likes it or not, nothing beats scraping food out of your mouth with your fingers apparently.

I've just poured some wine Grin

I made sausage pasta bake, and separate sausage pasta bake for dd2 who doesn't like peppers.

Dd2 has decided she's not hungry at all but might be later. Ds has eaten all the other pasta bake (which was to be for me and dd2's boyfriend. Luckily I'm not hungry after the stress of making it all (remember I don't like peppers/can't eat cheese etc., so I'm having 2 bags of wotsits and a glass of wine for tea. Turns out after me making half a pasta bake with no cheese the boyfriend ate before he came round!

Children in question are ds (18) and dd2 (16) and boyfriend (18). Some days it really all feels like they're toddlers again. They'd have wolfed it down when they were 3.

Butter beans tick the protein, carbs and veg boxes all by themselves. You totally won dinner.

DD ate tuna and sweet corn on toast like a dream for dinner. Makes up for throwing chickpeas like a shotputter at granny's for lunch.
