Has anyone had a similar experience please? No idea what to expect. I am overweight so guessing it could be something to do with that.

I have they said the bilerubin was elevated . Got an ultrasound all clear and they said it was Gilbert’s Syndrome that’s completely harmless. Hope it all is something and nothing x

Yes, I have. I had a private medical which included a LFT, I had elevated enzymes and was told to go to my GP urgently. I was a drinker, the GP told me to stop drinking for 2 months and to return for repeated LFT's every 4 weeks. I completely stopped drinking for 2 months and my enzymes returned to normal very quickly.

The GP said I could start having an occasional drink once they were back to normal, I now drink moderately and had another LFT in March when I was admitted to hospital with appendicitis, which came back well within normal.

The liver is an amazing organ, if you are overweight it could well be that you have a fatty liver, which if you try to lose some weight and it's been caught early, has every chance of reversing itself. Try not to worry.

DM had this.

She an on-again-off-again functioning alcoholic though.

So she stopped drinking until her levels were normal and then restarted 'in moderation', which has crept back up to a bottle or two of wine a night.

I'm guessing they'll advise you lose weight/cut certain foods.

I had this and it turned out to be gallstones affecting my liver function, I had raised bilirubin and my enzymes were off.

Were there symptoms that caused you to be tested?
If it is fatty liver, look up info on how to decrease stored glycogen and reduce visceral fat for non-alcohol related fatty liver. It can be turned around.
But no need to jump ahead until you know and they may have a nutritionist who can give you tailored advice. We've all been under a lot of stress these last few months, so underlying health issues may be being pushed to the forefront right now.
