If you could have a voucher for any high street shop...

...what would you choose?

Someone at work today was saying she'd got a large amount of River Island vouchers for her birthday and was chuffed. Started me pondering - I think I'd rather have a Lakeland voucher Blush. They have so many lovely useful-looking bits and bobs that I can't really justify buying in the ordinary course of things, but would thoroughly enjoy being able to go through their catalogue and circle things to splurge on. I used to like getting WHSmith vouchers as a teenager but not a massive fan of their stationery any more. And book vouchers are always lovely but you can buy so many more books second-hand for the same money it always feels a bit wasteful. Three years ago I'd have loved a Jojo Maman Bebe voucher but eldest has outgrown their clothes now and my youngest ruins virtually every outfit he wears within minutes, so I think it would cause more angst than anything. Maybe Monsoon? But probably Lakeland. Not sure if I should be slightly depressed by this...

Cash is kinb
Don’t give vouchers

My dc once got £200 of Jessops vouchers for Christmas and they went into liquidation on Boxing Day so useless

Give notes

Waterstones.
Sometimes DH gets me a fairly large amount of money on a Waterstones gift card for Christmas and I spend it throughout the year. I love books, but would be much less likely to spend the money of a full price book for myself if it wasn't a gift.

John Lewis and a sizeable amount so I could go fucking crazy at the beauty counters BlushGrin

Invisimamma · 11/08/2020 21:33

The one4all gift cards are good as you can use them in so many different places, can guarantee you can spend it somewhere.

I would like Next, Waterstones or Primark.

At the moment cash is better as so many shops going into administration.

Swelteringmeltering · 11/08/2020 22:02

Tk max. You can buy books, cooking equipment, clothes, anything. Better range than elsewhere, usually better quality.

WeveGottaGetTherouxThis · 11/08/2020 22:02

Zara or TK Maxx

Bairnsmum05 · 11/08/2020 22:03

John Lewis, I'd love some expensive bedding rather than supermarket ones. Smile

Mywifeandkids1 · 11/08/2020 22:05

Next

GU24Mum · 11/08/2020 22:09

Very boring but definitely John Lewis or book tokens for the safe option. Quite like Space NK / JoMalone for treats I wouldn't buy if I'm paying.

We've had an unspent Zara voucher in the cupboard for about 18 months so definitely don't need another one.

AuntieMarys · 11/08/2020 22:14

John Lewis every time. We currently have about £800 in vouchers to spend there.

Katjolo · 11/08/2020 22:16

John Lewis

Kittykatmacbill · 11/08/2020 22:17

John Lewis or tkmaxx on the high street. Boden or Nike.com on line.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 11/08/2020 22:19

John Lewis or Marks so I can treat myself to things I can't usually afford.

quarentini · 11/08/2020 23:18

Ikea - I know they’re cheap enough, but I have lots of furniture/wardrobe storage solutions on my wish list!

vegansprinkle · 11/08/2020 23:57

Waterstones or boots
