Where do you buy your clothes if you are in your 30s?

I have been going through my wardrobe and can’t remember the last time I bought any new clothes. I’ve been working hard to loose weight since I started having children four years ago and everything I own is baggy, black or frumpy.
I started to look online for some new bits but I realised I don’t actually know where to look to buy clothes. I think the last time I bought anything that wasn’t from the clothing section of a supermarket was about ten years ago. Just looking for some inspiration really. I’m not particularly trendy but I also don’t want to look dowdy anymore. I’m 37 for context. Where do you buy your clothes from if you are a similar age?

OP I'm the same, turned 40 this year, dont really know where I fit in! I basically live in jeans, trainers and t shirts.

I definitely know the shops I don't like - white stuff, joules and fat face.

@theneverendinglaundry I live in leggings and baggy tops. I look back at photos and I’m wearing the same five outfits over and over again. A lot of it is down to weight gain but now I am losing weight I don’t want to live in leggings anymore. Especially not in this heat!

39 here... All my favourite things are from & otherstories, basics from H&m and other bits from Zara, topshop or COS. I like Anthropology but find their stuff massively over priced for the quality.

I really like some of the brands they stock in John Lewis (and/or, Trilogy) so peruse their website regularly! Their personal shopping service supposed to be good so could make an appointment there if you want a change?

frustrationcentral · 10/08/2020 17:27

ASOS, dotty P, a few bits from Asda/Sainsbury's and an awful lot from Yours as I like chocolate too much....BlushGrin

Zara, Mango, & Other Stories, Hush, Whistles

Wowcherarestalkingme · 10/08/2020 18:52

That’s a good idea @Duvetstay I hadn’t thought of a personal shopper appointment

@dontgobaconmyheart

Honestly, the same places as I did in my twenties. I'm 33 and shop from ASOS, Topshop, H&M, Zara, & other stories and the odd bit from Primark when I go in, New Look and have recently bought a few bits from Stradivarius, Pull and Bear and Monki -summer dresses and t-shirts mainly.
Are these shops online? I think these makes are from Spain aren't they
purpleme12 · 10/08/2020 18:59

I shop at the same places I always have done. The most reliable place for things that fit my body are Dorothy Perkins. But I'm not bothered about what's in, I just want my style -fitted clothes, fitted Tops.
I've got some clothes from H&M. But I find it tough at the moment cos you can't try things on -i looked in my wardrobe to see what my clothes are from H&M and the range from extra small to 12!! So I daren't buy as I could get 4 sizes and have no idea what would fit me!
I do look in new look and Topshop occasionally I'll find something there not often.
But I guess it depends what's in your area too. I don't live in a big city so there's just the usual really

BayLeaves · 10/08/2020 19:01

Literally anywhere that has things I like the look of in the window. I don't really care what shop it's from. I have vests from Asda that literally look identical in quality and construction to similar tops I have from high end shops and as a result I won't bother getting them from the high end shops in future.

dollypops15 · 10/08/2020 19:17

I'm 35 size 12/14 and I get everything shoes included from boohoo

Hotandknackered · 10/08/2020 19:21

Asos, h&m, Tu (sainsburys) m&s mainly for underwear and primark for leggings / house t shirts. I could afford more expensive clothes. But I'm plus size and apparently we don't need niace clothes so...

Hotandknackered · 10/08/2020 19:22

Shoes from clarks, birkinstocks, irregular choice or asos. I need comfortable shoes!

Duvetstay · 10/08/2020 22:07

The John Lewis personal shopper sounds great, no pressure or minimum spend and they take lifestyle into account... If you feel in a rut you may need some new input.
