What healthy snacks do you give your DC?

Due to lockdown/summer holidays we have been eating far too much rubbish and too many snacks. We need to get back to eating healthily, meals are fine but I've always struggled to find healthy snacks for the DC as they like cheese strings/pepperamis/dunkers/crisps etc and they are constantly moaning about being hungry!

Any suggestions? They don't like hummous/dips really or raw veg except cucumber & lettuce but fruit is fine and they will have that for a snack but complain they are still hungry after.

I don't know if they fit in with your idea of healthy but I offer my 13 year old ...

Crackers and cheese

Cooked cold chicken, cucumber wedges and cheese cubes

Bagel spread with almond butter

Soup with a roll

Cheese and salad filled wraps

Small bowl of mixed nuts

I make my DD popcorn from scratch it doesn't take long with the popcorn maker but doesn't feel as nice as the one made in the pan DS does his own.
I also offer cheese, yogurt (plain or fruity ones)
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Fruit salad/chopped fruit
A slice of toast
Ds sometimes makes a bowl of 2 minutes noodles but it's rare.

I do the sometimes with a snack they want the crunch sensation and sometimes it's hunger I would sun what they are having with healthier versions so dunkers for Philadelphia and breadsticks
Cheese strings for cheddar
Peparami for salami or chorizo slices
Crisps to popcorn if you can

Mine loves sugar snap peas. It's the novelty of opening them. Cheese, chopped fruit. Proper Greek yogurt. Roasted chickpeas

If you wizz up bananas and blackberries (or any berries you like) and freeze them it make nice "ice cream" / sorbet which is a hit here.

Greek yogurt is good
Just some roast chicken breast strips maybe the high protein content will fill them up a bit?
Otherwise just fruit really my dd is a fruit fiend she could eat it all day ( but I can't cope with the poo situation when she does). Shock

Dont you just eat sugar snap peas whole? Do they throw away the shells?
chunkyrun · 09/08/2020 21:59

Roasted chickpeas

Spread chickpeas out on a tray and roast 😁 season with whatever flavour, paprika always goes down well.

Sugar snap peas - yea he likes to open them and eat the peas. I'm not fussed he's eating greens

Give fruit with something like cheese and crackers or half a filled pita bread. That will be more filling.
