Accidentally put salted butter in baby's food, should I be worried?

The other day I was making a recipe from one of the weaning books that called for a tiny bit of butter with some mashed potato and other veggies. I've just been in the fridge fro something else and realised I must have used the salted butter as the unsalted is open!
It wouldn't have been much at all, he didn't have cheese or anything that day and I never add salt to any of his meals. He seems fine but should I be worried? Everything I've read says baby's kidneys can be affected by this, but as a one off does anyone know if we should be ok?

He's still giving wet nappies and dirty nappies, perfectly happy in himself well, despite the heat, but I'm a bit worried now!

I was a bit dubious about adding butter at all and am now kicking myself!

It probably made his meal a lot tastier! I wouldn't start giving him salt and vinegar crisps though Grin.

I phoned the NHS helpline to tell them that my baby was crying. After being given a spoonful of mashed swede as her first weaning experience.

Nah, not PFB op. Just there’s a lot of advice flying around out there and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by it all. 😊

My PFB (in fact, P Only B) is off to school this September and I still have the odd ‘argh!’ moment, especially about his diet, which is admittedly appalling as he is the fussiest child in the world, possibly the galaxy... it’s all part of the fun 😬🤣

No worries, don't sweat!!

Don’t worry OP. I used to be conscientious about it and then I actually did the numbers.

NHS recommend a maximum of 1g per day. This is two whole packets of salt and vinegar crisps! The amount that you add in cooking is negligible. On the other hand it is also two slices of some brands of bread so it can creep up in other ways.

Really ? Just use you common sense

@JayAlfredPrufrock😂

Don’t worry. It is maximum 1g of salt per day under 1 and 1g is quite a lot. I’d imagine the amount in a bit of salted butter is nowhere near that. And don’t worry about ‘first baby?’ comments, most of us have had these moments. I remember crying and asking my antenatal group if I’d given my baby botulism because I’d fed him a tiny bit of bread that contained honey 😂

Ah thank you all! Feel much better now and won't think of it again!
And for the odd couple of posters who have said use my common sense, I'm afraid when you're gripped by these sudden obsessive concerns common sense doesn't always apply Grin

I find weaning quite difficult there is SO much information and conflicting advice, but we are getting there

Your baby will be fine. My second born took several massive bites out the salted butter one day and was going back for more when I noticed. It was a kind of bait and switch situation where DD1 wanted butter and while I was buttering her toast DD2 went for it
