To ball pit or not to ball pit 🤔

Hi all,

I am hoping to hear experiences of those who have bought a ball pit for at home.

What have your experiences been? Is it still sparking interest for your child, or did it loose its magic after a while?

We are doing up our daughters’ bed rooms. The oldest will get a teepee and we are looking for something to put in our toddler’s bedroom (she’ll be three next month).
I’m open for other ideas as well,if you have any. Ideally of a natural material.

You will be tripping over the bloody things every time you get up to them!

For a three year old, I wouldn't bother. We had one that my eldest got for his first birthday. He was bored of it by the time he was 18 months and didn't want to sit still anymore. It got put away until his brother was born and again he was bored of it by 18 months or so.

Not in the bedroom up all the time.
My friend had one and brought it out for the odd day at home.

Worst thing I ever bought! Balls everywhere and you can guarantee if DC is sick it's in the ball pit, wee accident... yep ball pit too.

Sorry, I missed she's nearly 3. Get her a tent too!

Ours was a bit like a paddling pool, so maybe look into buying a padding pool instead and just fill it with balls. That way you can use it as the pool as well.

Our ds had one for his first Christmas ( he was one in the January) and I think it entertained him for about 5 minutes occasionally for a couple of months . Definitely not worth the aggravation .

Going against the grain, we have a 7 month old who loves his ball pit, and even if he gets bored of it I love it 😆 I've always wanted a ball pit and I’m jolly well keeping it even if DS gets bored…

We haven't had one for almost 2 years.

I still find the balls in crazy places. It's nuts how easy they are to lose, only to reappear months later, even after you've moved the sofa to the other side of the room when redecorating... i swear if i went down now to look under the sofa there would probably be 4 or 5 there. And that's after having moved it to vacuum earlier.

But the kids did used to love it... even my then 5 year old... they had ball fights, like snowball fights.

Just to add, we got about 500 balls second hand for £5 and I’ve just filled the playpen we already have. I spent a very satisfying half hour chucking balls at my DH earlier today. Deeply childish but fun. We also use the balls as bath/paddling pool toys

Another one here who just bought a £3 paddling pool and a few balls!

Three is too old. Ours was a big hit during the toddler years but we got rid of it around age three.

Thank you all for your inputs. We have decided on a dollhouse instead :)

DS1 had one as a toddler. He's 9. Faded balls still turn up.

Good call on the dolls house.
