How to fix blind onto wall

My darling nephew has just pulled our blind off the wall. It's the second time he's done this, so there are lots of holes in plasterboard from when I bodged re-erecting the blind when he broke it off the wall the first time. It is a plasterboard wall which is shallow (not much depth before you hit what I assume to be the lintel).

Due to the fact that there are already holes where I need to re-erect fixings, how can I get blind back up? Would it help yo put a wooden batten up to put fixings on?

Hollow plasterboard walls are very tricky! Any advice greatly appreciated.

Polyfilla? Can you post a picture?

Fatherbrownsbicycle · 07/08/2020 19:47

Yes wooden batten. DH has put battens up on all our windows that needed blinds.

Battens or plasterboard wall plugs are you friend. My landlord had battens pre installed above all my windows, it's very helpful!

Plaster board fixing, screw and stick a wooden baton up and old it the blind to that. That's the only way I could get curtains to stay up on my rubbish plasterboard walls. Just add in a lot of fixings and it won't move

Thank you! What fixings would you use to fix wooden batten onto hollow plasterboard wall?

Is no more nails strong enough tto secure the wooden batten Teddy?

I did try those fixings last time but too little depth before fixing hit lintel so the screws wouldn't go fully in unfortunately. 🙁

Next burning question, whet to buy the wooden batten?

How new is the house, could it be a dry lined wall ?

If it is the plasterboard is just fixed to the inner wall with dabs of plaster hence leaving a very small gap which isn't big enough to get plasterboard fixings in

You will need to drill into the breeze block to get a long enough fixing in

House is 2012. It is a dry lined wall. I think that it is the lintel just above the window.

@BlindFixing my dad helped me put battens up in my old flat and it held a hefty pair of black out curtains perfectly fine with just no more nails to stick it 😊 you can buy battens from b&q, etc. or a local timber yard if you have one. 1x2 will probably be plenty for your blind fixings
