Can anyone recommend anything that's suitable for watching with an 11 and 13 year old please? We are after a series to get stuck into

Also thought of Robin Hood and the Muskateers, both on Iplayer

Avatar The Last Airbender on Netflix. It's fantastic. The first series is a bit formulaic adventure, but in the second and third series it really takes off. Its spin-off The Legend of Korra is on Prime and very good too.

Modern family is fab and has good gay role models in too which I think is really important for kids. Its our go to programme. We all laugh out loud at it

Outnumbered

lifeafter50 · 07/08/2020 19:37

Old stuff from the 70s like Randall and Hopkirk (original), Dad'sArmy, Columbo, The Brittas Empire
mMine love them!

Mallory Towers, Babysitters Club (on Netflix), Bake Off, Sewing Bee, George Clark's Amazing Spaces, Interior Design Challenge are all ones my 10-year-old DD and I love watching together. Gilmore Girls has been recommended by friends so will try that one next.

SistemaAddict · 09/08/2020 21:35

We are just starting Gilmore Girls. Thank you for all the suggestions, we've got a list to try nowSmile

@ColdTattyWaitingForSummer

If they liked stranger things, try umbrella academy. My 13 year old also enjoyed once upon a time (the first few series are better than the later ones though). For something more lighthearted we like watching the fresh prince.
Ooh I've been wondering about Umbrella academy for me and my 13 year old to watch together. I saw it was rated 15 though which put me off a bit. Is there anything inappropriate for a 13 year old in it?
ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 09/08/2020 22:37

@ScarlettDarling it has some scary parts, and a few drug references, but I’d say it’s on a par with stranger things, so if you’d let them watch that I’d think it would be ok. I can’t think of any sex or nudity, and there’s not a heap of bad language that I remember.

ScarlettDarling · 09/08/2020 22:41

@ColdTattyWaitingForSummer Thanks for that, I think I'll suggest it to her.

sunnyday1976 · 09/08/2020 22:46

Ghosts on iPlayer. My 11 and 13 year olds love it.

ouch321 · 09/08/2020 22:49

Malory Towers on iPlayer is clean fun.

SistemaAddict · 09/08/2020 23:12

We've been watching Mallory towers for quite a while now and love it. We just watched one episode of Gilmore Girls tonight but we really liked it. The characters are great and it's funny.

Outer Banks

Passthecake30 · 10/08/2020 06:43

We’re Binge watching Merlin in the evenings.

We’ve watched the Worst Witch and just add magic at lunchtimes - a bit younger, but I’ve enjoyed them Blush

Kids are 10&12.

Has anyone watched Once upon a time!

Passthecake30 · 10/08/2020 06:44

That should say Once upon a time? No need for an exclamation mark... need that edit function!

HasaDigaEebowai · 10/08/2020 07:18

Once Upon a Time is good. My 13 and 15 DSs both happily watch it.

reluctantbrit · 10/08/2020 07:20

Merlin
Once upon a time
Heartland
A Series of Unfortunate Events (I never really understand this one)
All kind of cooking shows like Hairy Bikers or the BBC bake off
Animal rescue or Vet shows or other nature documentaries

DD like Big Bang Theory but I think a lot of the jokes go over her head.

A friend started her 12 year old on Buffy, I think that depends on the individual child and I think DD would cope but I know others who won’t.

HasaDigaEebowai · 10/08/2020 07:22

We also all enjoyed Agatha Raisin (DS2 (13) enjoyed it more than DS1 (15) did )

We are about to give Umbrella Academy a go. DH has watched it all and after initially saying "no way" for DS2 (13) he now says its violent but probably ok.

lampshadery · 10/08/2020 07:29

Have you got Disney +?

If so, Diary of a Future President. It's about a girl in middle school who is the future President of the United States. It's great

Squidsister · 10/08/2020 07:49

We are watching Umbrella Academy - it’s a bit too violent in places for my liking but DD 14 wanted to watch it as her friends were talking about it.
Lost in Space is good, and we also watch old episodes of Doctor Who.
Ghosts is one I definitely recommend!

GinJeanie · 10/08/2020 08:42

The Office (US version) is brilliant - suitable for this age group and very funny...

BurtsBeesKnees · 10/08/2020 09:21

Teen wolf
Buggy the vampire slayer
Riverdale
Merlin
