Car breakdown Cover

Evening anyone still up in the UK
My cover with the AA runs out soon and I am now looking at best deals.
I have not had a breakdown at all and car is 7 years old.
I don't tend to drive long distances. I am a lone parent with 2 DC though so do need reliability.
I don't remember how to jump start and have nobody to ask so will probably want Home Start for peace of mind but if car does not start up in a morning it isn't life or death atm.
I have never put the wrong fuel in but it might be something I could do. I have always been with AA in the past but am looking to save money where I can.

Have any of you used or heard of
Recover Cover
Dynamo Breakdown
Cover my breakdown

Never heard of them. Have only ever heard of AA, Green Flag, RAC
I have a very small car and no spare wheel - no room for one in boot. I need to look for a repair kit I guess as I do not know whether it came with one or where it would be. Locking mechanism available to remove the wheel - any idea what this refers to? (I have a Kia).

Who are you currently with and would you recommend or avoid next time?

Thanks in advance x Flowers

Recommend Green Flag. Cheaper than RAC & AA for same level of cover.

Thanks - they come in just shy of 30 quid but that's with a 40 pounds excess and limited to five call outs. Goes up to 70 with no excess. I really do need to sort out repair kit and locking mechanism thing because that's coming up for every policy (am now worried it is in the small print for my AA current policy if universal).
I have some lock nuts have never used but think they are for locking the wheels. Went on Kia accessories and they have tool kits eg wrench etc but not repair kit - I assume the latter means some kind of tyre plaster as opposed to actual tools mechanics would carry?

I'm no expert 🤣. I think the repair kit is one of those cans which fill & re inflate the tyre enough to get you to a garage. Although pretty useless if your tyre is shredded.
I know nothing about locking nuts, sorry. Have you got the user manual? That might help you trace a repair kit. Or can you ring a Kia dealership & ask a few questions?
Green Flag cover is pretty good. I pay approx £6 per month by direct debit. I have all but the European cover.
Got fed up of AA hiking up the price every year then battling it down again, but still seeing lower offers for new customers.

What sort of bank account do you have? Mine includes basic breakdown recovery.

FaiIWorseAgain · 07/08/2020 11:09

Oh. Just a normal high street current account.
