Boring question about printers

CurtainWitcher · 05/08/2020 18:04

I need to buy a printer, but am a bit bamboozled by the selection!

Which would you go for?

I would like
it to connect to wi-fi
decent-ish quality colour (are they all colour these days?)
the ink to not cost a fortune

Thank you!

Mine a cannon printer I bought a few years back, so far being very reliable, connects to the internet so can print wirelessly from phone and computer. No idea of the model I'm afraid

I recently bought a HP envy for £60ish.

I only print occasionally so didn't want to spend a lot on it. It's WiFi connected and can print photos as well.

I bought an HP for £30 ish and then pay £1.99 for 50 copies a month. I then get ink sent as my printer needs it. I'm loving it as I've never been able to get ink sorted and this makes it so much easier! They have loads of price plans so you can choose what suits

Most printers these days are colour printers and can print photos if you use the right paper.
I have a printer/scanner/copier as that works for me.
Have a think about how much printing you want to do, and how often it's likely to be.
You also need to bear in mind that if you only print very occasionally, the cartridges can dry up. Usually, if they are inkjet, the cartridges can be salvaged, but it can be a pain.

Would definitely recommend a HP one, that uses WiFi. Ours was about £50. It is a copier too which really comes in handy. I have the hp app on my phone and can print documents straight from my phone, which saves a lot of time. We subscribe to the hp instant ink service, we have the cheapest plan of £1.99 for 50 sheets I think, but you can increase or decrease this at anytime, and if you go over your allowance you just get charged by the sheet which isn't expensive. It's been a godsend during lockdown when dc were doing school work.

Our HP envy is good and like PP I really like the option to sign up to monthly payment for ink - easy and for us cheaper than buying them individually and genuine HP ink.
