I'm "supposedly" overweight but love how I look! Anybody else feels the same??

I'm overweight and dieting but that's because I have lots of clothes I want to fit into and don't want to buy more stuff! I've lost nearly a stone. I'm still overweight...size 14-16.

But honestly, being overweight doesn't really bother me apart from the clothes issue.

I'll own up and admit I think I'm pretty regardless.

Me! I was actually slim all my life but then peri menopause hit and I started taking anti-depressants notorious for weight gain at the same time. I went up 4 stone initially but I was described as “skinny” before so I didn’t look huge but definitely overweight. I made a conscious decision then that I just didn’t care. I also decided then that I didn’t care about trying to look younger either. I feel fine with how I look because I’m not trying to impress anyone. I find it very freeing. I have actually lost a couple of stone since then but I didn’t try, it just happened. But technically still overweight. I am very happy with my ageing and expanding body!

Me. I lost 4 stones and went from "overweight" to "healthy weight". I looked haggard and was asked more than once if I was ill because of how drawn and hollow my face looked. I've put a stone and a half back on, am back to being classed as overweight and I feel so much better and look better too.

goteam · 05/08/2020 18:37

I don't particularly care how much I weigh (11 st) or about my dress size (12) or BMI (26) BUT don't like the way the extra stone / half a stone sits on me - all on my stomach and neck / jawline. I think some women carry my weight and dress size really well in a curvy hourglass way but I don't! I don't get too hung up about it though.

@trappedsincesundaymorn you are right some people do look drawn and hollow when they are supposedly at a 'healthy' weight. I think what looks good is so individual.

Like @formerbabe I don't want to outgrow my clothes so am consciously trying to drop half a stone slowly.

Fressia123 · 05/08/2020 18:47

I'm very conscious of maintaining my dress size. The funny thing is that I was every obsessed about my weight but I'm trying to move away from it.

I have yo yo dieted all my life ...I lost 70lbs 3 years ago.
I have regained 40 ......I am gutted but I am sooooo tired of dieting.

Meruem · 06/08/2020 08:45

I also agree about some people looking drawn if they’re the “ideal” weight. I put myself in this group. The extra weight in my face has actually made me look a lot healthier. I also have a cleavage for the first time in my life! The price to pay is extra weight on the tum and thighs, I can live with that.

StormBaby · 06/08/2020 08:47

I’m about 5 stone overweight but I’m over 6ft and carry it well. I’ve always been body confident, I wear what I like, swan about in hot pants or bikinis in the summer. I just do not care what others think of me.

Strugglingtodomybest · 06/08/2020 08:51

I don't care and never have. I have never owned scales, I have always gone by the mantra, do my jeans fit? If yes, carry on, if no, eat less.

Bluntness100 · 06/08/2020 08:51

If I put on weight I tend not to see it, which is why I’ve trained myself to judge by my clothes, scales just make me obsessive. What happens though is I see a pic of myself and think oh shit. But I can be very happy and confident and not see it till that moment.
