Another one about neighbour problems...

I recently moved house. It’s a terrace house in a quiet residential street. The neighbour on one side plays really loud music. So far she has not done it late at night - it’s day time and early evening. But it’s REALLY loud - it feels like there is a sound system playing loud music in my house (you can hear it in every room). It’s not every day but it is quite unbearable, especially since I have to wfh. I don’t feel like I can raise it with her as she must be aware just how loud and annoying it is, but simply doesn’t care. She has her windows open you can hear the music half way up the street from her, so I almost feel she does it intentionally!

Has anyone else had similar? Do some people just enjoy being antisocial?

It's life in a terrace with shit insulation/sound proofing.

My neighbour did end up with a noise complaint against him, from the other side for his constant loud music/tv.

You need to raise it with her? Just go and knock on her door.

She is a bit intimidating but I might ask my other neighbours if anyone has raised it with her in the past.

Can you put a note through. The problem with speaking with other people before her might aggravate the situation.

Unless you know the other neighbours already, you could drop it into a general conversation. Good luck! If it not sorted now it could be a long term nightmare.

Give the council a ring. Their noise team will look into it for you. In the meantime, keep a diary of when it's on and download an app which measures the decibels.

The council have their own app which you can download and send in recorded reports. You will need to keep the diary for about a month initially.

This is just so selfish, and it really annoys me when I hear of people having to suffer such awful neighbours. I've absolutely no problem with the odd late night and noisy get togethers, but constant? Nope not one bit fair to neighbours.

Anyway, I would approach her myself and politely but firmly say something like....

Hi, I don't know if you know but your music is very loud, I can hear it booming in my house every day, just wondered if there was any way you might lower it a bit as it is affecting my health. If you'd like to come in and hear it for yourself you'll know what I mean etc.

What's the worst that can happen? It's a nightmare as it is for you. Best of luck.
