Which job should I pick? Please help me choose! Part 2

Ok, I had a thread on a few days ago about choosing between a local authority job and an NHS one and I finally chose the LA one.

Well this week I let my current employer know and they've told me that they'd offer me full time work (currently pt). They're going to see if they can change my job description to increase my salary to match my new job.
They've been really helpful and lovely about it and now I don't know what to do!

Do you like your current job? Do you like the people? If so then stay because they obviously value you. If you were only leaving for more hours or money it makes sense to stay. If you're really excited about the new opportunity take that. If I have a choice to make, I choose one option then see how o feel mentally, then I choose the other option. Whichever option feels lighter brighter and happier is the right one.

Personally in this climate I’d keep the job security of an existing role.
Things to consider:
Salary
Hours
Travel
Flexibility
Carer progression / which role interests you?

Which wins?

Sometimes the time at your current place is just "completed"
I have worked in a good/nice job for almost 6 years and feel that my time at that organisation has come to a natural end. I feel no passion or drive for it and as others desperately want my job and the platform and opportunities it brings I felt that regardless of the covid situation I should still look. I start a new role in sept.

However be careful of the security however i did read your last thread and understand both roles are secure.

So for me it would be am i in need of a change and a fresh start/new direction
If yes then go for it
If no then stay put

Hours - both now ft
Flexibility - more flexibility with new job
Pay - new job better paid
Travel - both walking distance. New job 10mins. Current job a few minutes!
Progression - new job I think. Current job is quite generic

I do like the people at current job but I have had my eyes open for a new job for a while. I don't get happy going into work. It's a real dread feat on Sunday evenings. During the lockdown I've obviously not had that.

New job. You are just having last minute nerves. I had the same thing. I have just finished a job I grew over time to dislike but it was familiar. I'm due to start something new but started to doubt myself in a new role. Not a good enough reason to stay in something you aren't happy with.
Good luck.

NewjobMrsM I don't know if I'm in need of a change but it's more I've been forced to a change as DH has become redundant due to the current situation. Then I started applying to jobs as soon as we found out.

Dreading going to work on Sunday night = change jobs.

ShadylilFocker · 05/08/2020 08:29

New job
You get the sunday dread. Thats not nothing. Employers are arseholes that haggle with you when they realise someone else noticed your worth. They could have had the chat about changing your tole, increasing your pay and hours a while ago if they were really good appreciative employers. They sound manipulative. They should ahve recognised your worth earlier. Move on.
