My toothbrush has died!! It was a cheap to be fair but I now need a new one, and actually have some spare cash at the moment to hopefully get a decent one that will last!

Will in all likelihood be buying from Tesco online as that's who I mostly use. Plus ideally I'd need one I can get replacement brush heads from Tesco too, thinking about it I may get ahead and order these now too.

So...

Electric, rechargeable not battery and not too harsh as I have "soft teeth" as it were and have been cautioned by dentist to be careful in choosing brushes and how I brush regarding this.

So please hit me with your recommendations

But I feel overwhelmed by the

Choices seem to be:

Oral b vitality - severs different models
Oral b cross action
Oral b pro - various models

Philips sonicare

Think I’m happy to spend up to around £50 if it’s going to last. (And even that is making me sweat a little!! Many years of £1 for 3 in the pound shop Grin)

Would be great to hear from dentists/dental nurses/hygienists if any are reading - probably should have put that in thread title

Love love love my sonicare (its an old model, had it 3 years) normally when I go to the dentist he sees ££££ and immediately books his Barbados holiday but not anymore! The genuine look of disappointment in his face is hilarious. It's my second, previous one died after 10 years and I'd never have anything else!

Graphista · 04/08/2020 20:12

Excellent thank you can you tell me which model?

Ahh no says it comes with Uk 2 pin plug I don't have one of those

You can buy an adapter. My sonicare is 10 years old and I’ve not needed an hygienist appointment since. It’s saving me money!

treehousethunderstorm · 04/08/2020 20:53

All the electric toothbrushes I've had (superdrug own and Oral B) came with a 2 pin plug. You just get a little adaptor for it. DH uses the adaptor for his shaver too.

Mine is the older version of this

Mum has one of these and loves it!

Not Tesco, but Fairywill were recommended on here and I got one (from Amazon) when my Oral B died. So impressed we've gradually replaced all the toothbrushes with them. They have a mini USB charger which is handier than the 2-pin plug and a charge lasts weeks.

Blankiefan · 05/08/2020 06:29

I recently bought the oral b pro which was half price at Boots (£35). It's great. I wouldn't pay £70 For it tho....

cannaethink · 05/08/2020 09:47

I second the Fairywill recommendation. They’re about £20. I’ve had mine for about 4 years and it’s still going strong. I’ve since bought them for other family members too. The charge lasts ages! And you can get soft brush heads on Amazon.

Graphista · 05/08/2020 16:28

Amazon not an option at the moment as I have ocd and they're only doing doorstep deliveries still - no way I'd use a toothbrush left that way!!

Graphista · 05/08/2020 16:29

But...Tesco also sell the adapters so that might be a possibility

OP posts:
Graphista · 05/08/2020 16:32

So confused though - the toothbrushes they sell don't seem to match the replacement heads they sell? Or at least not precisely? I'm guessing it's similar to charger cables where one sold for one device/model works for others too?

But I don't know which matches which?
