Having exhausted all the walking route during lockdown what are other people doing with thier 9-13 year olds?
I’m finding it hard, all they want to do is stay home, watch Netflix and play video games. They are past the age of soft play (even if it was open), the parks around us are for smaller kids really. None of the trampoline parks near us are open, cinema still shut.
We’ve been to national trust but as houses are still closed it’s just the same as walking round the woods. Went to the beach last week but any good beaches are over an hour drive and really busy so don’t fancy that. There’s a couple of zoos/farm parks but they either cater for smaller kids or cost an arm and a leg!
Normally they go to MILs in Devon for a week and we either go to my sister or my niece and nephew come to us.

Just finding it hard to think of anything they won’t moan about!! Any ideas?

Any water activities locally? Kayak/paddle board hire? Have been to a couple recently that have been very well organised.

We have been going to the river with picnic and a paddle board. It’s been great fun and keeps dc away from screens for the day!

She’s been cooking (I don’t do cakes or puddings, so she’s keen), lots of zoom / YouTube dance lessons, meeting a friend in the park, reading, watching TV, some music, some chores. The chores, cooking and reading we often do together, the rest is by herself, apart from a cheese zoom singalong that we both enjoyed.

Mountain bike trails but to be honest, they go out cycling daily to the local pump track with friends.

Kahoot quiz, get them to plan and provide parents a three course meal (complexity dependent on skill!), Geocaching, reorganise bedrooms,

Paddle boarding/kayaking was a massive win.

Biking/ paddle board /kayaking/ crabbing/ making cakes /pizza by themselves with recipes to read themselves. Lidl has some kayaks in recently which were not too expensive.
They do love Netflix and Xbox too and watch more than I want.
It’s tough though at this age !
