Jelly Fish Sting?

Went to the beach today, and ds was in the sea. I spotted a jelly fish in the water, so moved away. I then noticed this in ds's belly. He didn't cry or anything, and says its a bit itchy. Just wondering if this is maybe a jelly fish sting? Thanks in advance

Could be, have you given any antihistimine or put some afterbite cream on it? That might help as it looks quite sore.

You'd think he would have noticed wouldnt you?!

I don't think he'd have missed a jellyfish sting, honestly. They hurt, they don't itch.

If it was a Lion's Mane jellyfish, they sting like nettles and give a bright red rash rather than a raised lump like that. Could it be a sea anemone? Though even that I would have thought would sting rather than itch.

Gave antihistamine cream to him. It's only I saw the jelly fish, I assumed that's what it was, or I'd never have considered it.
It's not hurting him or anything, was just curious.

could be.
ice pack and steroid sting cream should help.
the jelly fish on north europe coast are more like (very unpleasant) nettel stings.

It sure if jelly fish stings vary depending in their type but you wouldn't have missed the pain from the one I had in holiday one year. It hurt a lot and the pain lasted a long time too.

Thanks all. Going to assume it's not then, as if it hurt, I wouldn't be hearing the end of it! Grin

Looks like it. I find lemon juice works quickest.

My UK jelly fish stings didn't hurt very much - very similar to nettles, but I had linear marks where there tentacles had trailed across me
