Screaming

Why do parents let their small children scream?
I live next door to a park and there have been what sounds like 2 children screaming in the playground since before 8am. They are not in distress but intermittently keep letting out very loud and prolonged screams, probably chasing each other and it's really fucking annoying
I have 2 DSs and when they were small if they screamed we just asked them to stop as it was unnecessary and they needed to consider those around them. IMO children can have great fun without screaming loudly.
Would be interested to know if there is a correlation between children who scream when small and teenagers (usually female) who scream and shout late at night as part of their socialising 😒

I absolutely hate children screaming - it feels completely unnecessary for NT kids - and loathe it even more now I have an autistic child who can’t bear high-pitched noises. Screaming makes places like playgrounds, soft play etc, which she’d otherwise really enjoy, unbearable for her.

We've got screamers next door.

High pitched, ear splitting screams that happens dozens of time a day.

I genuinely think the parents don't hear it any more and I have zero respect for them.

My OH has just realised our dog whistle makes exactly the same sound and has suggested blowing it loudly every time they scream 😉

Oh yeah, the odd scream here and there understandable but screaming a lot unbearable, even worse if parents don't even attempt to quieten it down. I have 4 dc and encouraged them not to scream, it is a sign of stress\shock\problems etc to indicate to others there is a problem that needs sorted maybe. Allowances should be made for sn children etc though.

Thankfully our estate is normally pretty quiet (apart from the adults next door) but recently there has been a rise in football noise. If it was just kids playing football on the grass it would be fine, a bit of kicking and calling out etc, but it is some child standing near our house on the footpath incessantly bouncing a football on the pavement. Bash, bash, bash, bash, bash bash, bash, bash, bash, bash, bash, bash, bash... Awful noise when it goes on for so long. When I was little my bro and mum always told me not to bounce a football on concrete as it damages it - wears the outside off quicker than using it on grass so just allowed to use it on grass. I wonder if the real reason was to stop me making that awful noise? (Tennis ball and basketball bouncing sounds different and is less intrusive to me.)

Screaming children & inconsiderate parents are now the norm…… as I type this (wearing noise cancelling headphones) there are hordes of feral screeching kids screaming at the top of their lungs for attention right outside my house & have been doing so for the past 5 hours.

Parents don’t seem to be able to or don’t want to tell their screaming howler monkey kids to reduce the volume & show consideration to the neighbourhood, so these anti-social brats continue to screech for attention.

This perpetuates the child’s selfish & entitled behaviour - so they in turn become selfish & entitled adults who allow their children to run wild because “It’s what kids do” (always the stock response of the lazy, inadequate parent).

Really no point in even communicating with the parents because they think little “Bratleigh” is perfect in every way & an extension of themselves……so they enable & facilitate the child’s antisocial behaviour & there literally is nothing you can do, nothing.

I despise lazy, selfish & entitled parents who clearly believe their kids are perfect. I’ve had enough of the chaos & noise, so will be moving soon for the sake of my mental health………….. and would advise anybody who can, to do the same.

Because it won’t be long before these under-parented, spoilt, indulged & entitled feral brats take over the suburbs, turning them into noisy ghettos & ruining the quality of life for everybody.

And for anybody who thinks the victims of this aural assault should just move (not always that simple) or "get over it" – here’s a thought – unless you are capable of raising a responsible & considerate child, perhaps, as the cause of the issue, it’s you who should be moving to a remote area so your children’s screaming doesn’t affect the rest of the population?.

Pointless screaming was the one thing that used to make me lose it with DD. It really pushes a button in me and I know I'm not alone.

I do know an adult woman who screams when she is even slightly excited and I can't stand her. I've got no idea whether she was a screamy child but it wouldn't surprise me.
