Endometrial Ablation

Posting here for traffic as the health boards are a bit quiet!

Just wondering if anyone has had an ablation and then gone back to heavy bleeding and pain after a few years?

I had one in 2015 and it has been amazing, I get one day of spotting and that's it. The last few months I've noticed I was getting a small amount of pain with my period but I also have IBS so I thought that may be acting up. Yesterday I woke up and couldn't move with full on period pain, it was horrendous for a good few hours but still only spotting. This morning I met some friends with the kids and on the way there I started bleeding heavily, through my knickers, trousers and onto the car seat. I cleaned myself up and luckily had dark trousers on but half an hour later I completely flooded and ended up having to take the kids home.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else after 5 or so years? It's just so out of the blue and I feel like I've gone back in time! I guess I'll phone the GP tomorrow 🤷‍♀️

If some of your endometrium wasn't completely ablated it can return. I'd get a referral for a hysteroscopy and a possible redo.

Yes I had one in 2012 and at first my periods were light and pain free but now I get pains for days and they are much heavier again

@Wilberforce1 no I haven’t. Every month I say I will go to the doctor but never quite get round to it

Mine failed immediately. It didn’t work and I ended up with a hysterectomy.

I've just had mine done (03/08) but I'm interested to hear stories; for me I figure it's just a temporary fix until my children are a bit bigger and I can have the recovery time for a hysterectomy.

Already know it wasn't complete as apparently I have a "long" uterus and the very ends where my tubes are were left. I'm just hoping I get at least three years of relief (and by that I'd just be happy with a "normal" period)
