Does anyone use Essential Oils? Mix your own?

Looking at using essential oils to generally be calmer and to help with minor ailments (cuts/bruises etc). Does anyone use them and if so do you mix your own? If so, where do you buy your oils and base oils from?

Can't decide whether it might just be easier to buy a few Tisserand ones!

Thanks in advance.

There is a huge variety of aromatherapy trade suppliers if you google them. Tisserand is a good brand. Starchild is a long established U.K. Brand. Always check best before dates and never buy more than 6 months old or keep them beyond a year as they become toxic over time.

Tisserand is very high quality. Holland and Barrett also excellent and invariably on offer. I make a pillow spray with lavender orange and geranium and a kitchen spray with lemon, grapefruit and bergamot.

Tisserand is a reliable brand - beware of cheap ones. Many are not EO at all but synthetic copies.

Keep in a cool dark place and they'll last a couple of years before they go off. Some even longer.

Base oils I buy from the supermarket generally unless I'm using something more exotic like neem. I've always been pleased with the Naissance brand

Can you use Tisserand in diffusers? I've got some other brand essential oils and they're very hit & miss.

sueelleker · 01/08/2020 20:20

@iklboo; Tisserand actually sell diffusers. I bought my husband one last Christmas, and it's been very useful. You can use their blends, or mix individual oils; you fill the diffuser wth water, and add 6 to 8 drops of oil(s)

@sueelleker - great, thank you. I'll have a look.

I really like Neals Yard oils, blends and diffusers. Use them for all sorts. Particularly for relaxation, focus, PMT, sleeplessness, colds and headaches. Great for making the house smell nice too.

Watch out for Naissance- I used to buy from them but there was some bad publicity about them selling cheap substitutes and not using organic when they said they were.
