Why can’t I find comfy summer sandals for my DC?

I’ve got 2 DC, 6 and 3. And every single summer they’ve been bought sandals.....which have been removed after minutes for being uncomfortable. We’ve had StartRite, Clarks, supermarket ones, all kinds and styles, and they just don’t seem to ever seem to want to wear them. I see other DC happily wearing them in summer while mine are always in trainers, and then they complain their feet are hot. Am I missing something? Where do people buy them from?

There a 4 links there, for some reason they've joined together!

Mine are a bit older now but live in Aussie soles flip flops. Salt water sanders when younger. both very fussy with shoes.

Highly recommend these Crocs sandals with Velcro fastening. Great for general wear, beach, in the water. I have been getting them for my sons every summer and we have never had a blister or 1 complaint 😊

Ernieshere · 01/08/2020 13:37

Will they wear flip flops?

My DD will only wear these ones, as the toe post is squidgy/soft.

I wasted so much money on plastic flip flops that hurt, and she vowed never to try any more but I managed to persuade her to try the Animal ones.

She wears the boys and girls version & loves them.

Pediped Saharas (which also go in the water, and have toe protection) are the only ones my dd will wear happily. This year she’s in their biggest size, not sure what we’ll do next year. They are very flexible, light and padded - though a sporty rather than a pretty look.

Decathlon sandals are good, DD had the cheapest one year (about £8 I think) and got blisters so following year got the £12/13 ones which were much more comfy, got them again this year. They are more like walking sandals so not as pretty but very practical

Meanameicallmyself20 · 01/08/2020 13:42

Mountain warehouse ones here! My 3 love them! So practical and great colours too

When my DC were younger, I got them the Karrimor Antibes walking sandals every year after. They have a soft neoprene like lining so they never had any problems, plus they’re really robust. I handed them down to siblings too.

Can't believe we've had so many posts and no one has mentioned Show Zone canvas and rubber sandals. They usually do them 2 for £12 or something like that.

Extremely comfy, they can go in water with them and they just dry out, cheap as chips. I'm just gutted they no longer do DD's size.

LaTomatina · 01/08/2020 13:47

These. We get them every year for our kids. Very satisfied.

@TinkersTailorim thank you, I’m pretty damn excited they come in adult sizes too! DD not waking yet, was for future reference as my older one is a boy, but will get some for my niece ( and for me !! ) They are all lovely, how to choose?

gobananasgo · 01/08/2020 18:09

@Georgieporgie29 thank you too.. too many options for me now !

A lot of the kids where I live (US) wear Keens and various styles of Toms. Also plain plastic flip flops, and Native (Croc- style) is another popular brand. The Keens are built to last through dozens of summers.

Asda do some canvas velcro t-bar ones for £5 that are barefoot friendly as they are super flexible, wide toe box etc. I think they go up to size 10 and are in the first walkers range. I love those because they don't need to be worn with socks and they can cope with a few washes. I also really rare genuine Crocs, can be rinsed or go in the washing machine and great all year round to go in the garden, perfect for camping and quick to put on. Only genuine Crocs or the Hot Tuna ones from Sports Direct are any good.

huuunderickssss · 01/08/2020 19:58

I buy timberland , we are on about our 6 th pair . Get from next or amazon

HaggisTheGreat · 01/08/2020 20:30

In my experience, anything with adjustable Velcro straps is fine (and most of the stuff recommended on here seems to be from that category). Anything else ends up rubbing.

TinkersTailor · 01/08/2020 21:01

@gobananasgo No problem! I actually bought the glittery pair for myself too Grin
They're so comfortable and DD loves having matching shoes with mummy.
