Husband & supermarket shop

Sorry just need to rant - lighthearted

We are going on a picnic tomorrow / day trip out and my husband offered to pop to the shops to get stuff we needed while I was putting kids to bed.

I get annoyed he always jokes about how long I take in the supermarket yet he's quicker but doesn't worry about cost or look at anything properly. Picnic for 6 of us he spent £40 and managed to buy sparking water instead of still which no one likes just because he rushes. Everything he picks up is branded, yet he Always says I spend too much on a weekly shop of £150 for 2A 3C !

Mind you his picnic stuff is nicer than mine !

I think 150 is quite a lot! But then we eat very, very basically. For a picnic 40 is a lot but if you can afford it, then it's not an issue surely? Or are things a bit tight?

But he can never again say you spend too much can he since he's just spent almost a third of your weekly shop allowance on ONE picnic! Tell him that.

But a nice picnic...well, that's a good thing too!

Yabu to buy bottled water! Gross waste of plastic. It comes out the tap.

DP is a bit like this. He can pop into Sainsbury’s on his way home and spend £20 treating himself to some new expensive branded cleaning products that I’d never buy.
The man is obsessed with buying cleaning products and kitchen utensils Confused

I did bring up once what a massive waste of money it is but then he reminded me about the bouquets of flowers and bottles of prosecco I buy for myself in the weekly shop Blush

In our old house our tap water wasn't drinkable. Now we live in a house with drinkable water I don't know how we managed!!!

Agree about the water - When we go out in the summer I normally freeze some water bottles to use as ice packs but so that the kids can drink it too later as it melts

He misheard me saying we needed water bottles to freeze so he bought more.

Which is more ridiculous as about 2 weeks ago I had bought us all new bottles for water to save buying when we are out!

can you mix the sparkling water with juice/squash to create a healthier version of pop? maybe not for the picnic but to avoid wasting them? Or just keep them for visitors I suppose!

£40 on a picnic - can you point out that as of Monday you could probably go to a naice pub or medium restaurant and get three course meals for all of you for less than that Grin

Get him to do the weekly shop if he feels you spend too much. He’s a numpty. That’s show him how hard it is and why it takes so long. You can then slag him off for spending 50% more than you....

Leave the top off the sparkling water in the fridge and it will go flat over night ?
