Where do you get yours from? I'm currently paying £45 a month for daily disposables (mine are "1 Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism").

It's a big chunk of money to pay each month, and I've seen that you can get them cheaper online.

If you do, is the service reliable and is the quality the same? Would you recommend?

Thanks Smile

I always get mine online - I’m not in the U.K. but I use the same brands as U.K.

You can buy the exact same ones much cheaper online.

Moomooboo · 30/07/2020 14:00

visiondirect.co.uk - very quick delivery.

I don't know about value, I just use them because whenever im running low its so easy to order new ones!

paddingtonbearsmarmalade · 30/07/2020 14:00

I get fortnightly Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism from VisionDirect. Costs ~£60 every three months (factoring in a 5% student discount) and arrives so quickly.

I can see the dailies are £20.99 per box of 30 per eye. So ~£42 per go - not much less than you currently pay!

I would guess that it would work out cheaper if you switched to weekly or fortnightly lenses? Have you tried that?

I use Vision Direct, much much cheaper than buying from optician (even if you still pay the optician for aftercare), arrive next day posted through letterbox, great service.

Quality the same as you're buying the exact same brand - I use Acuvue Oasys dailies and save about 30%.

I use them mainly because the opticians are pushy about signing up to monthly deals, mine would penalise you if you wanted to buy 6/12 months up front Hmm so I took the huff, pay optician for the aftercare and buy online lenses and haven't looked back.

Saucery · 30/07/2020 14:09

Lenstore, Focus Dailies, about £30 per month iirc. Bought them from there for years now, after Boots frequently messed up delivery and reorder. Easy to change your prescription, order more ‘just in case’ i.e. if I was going away before next delivery. I just get my eyes checked by an optician as advised (Boots, usually, although Lenstore have vouchers for tests from other opticians).

GinWithRosie · 30/07/2020 15:13

Thank you all...I will look at your recommendations and see which work out cheapest 👍😊

@paddingtonbearsmarmalade unfortunately due to bad scarring behind my eyelids, coupled with the astigmatism and dry eye, the only kind I can tolerate are the dailies, as anything else is too thick (putting too much pressure on my eyes and causing pain!). It took several 'trials' to find a type I can wear. Stupid eyes! 👀

Lens store, I have astigmatism so have the toric ones. Much cheaper than my opticians.

AriettyHomily · 30/07/2020 15:16

Vision Direct too but the prices are creeping up I pay £32 per month for mine

underneaththeash · 30/07/2020 15:25

@GinWithRosie please don’t be tempted to change bland. Different companies lenses are very, very different to each other - even if they have exactly the same specification.

The material they are made out of (which affects oxygen transmission too), thickness, profile of the lens (which can affect how the lens interacts with your lids) and the stabilisation methods used for torics all vary.

I assume your lid scarring is from GPC and it’s not worth setting it off again.

MrsJamTart · 30/07/2020 15:26

I’ve ordered today from lenstore
TopCashback has 25% off for a new customer using lenstore
www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/fargher7

Here’s my referral link in case you want to order that way.

RosieCockle · 30/07/2020 15:32

I use Vision Direct for dailies too. V quick delivery. Prices are competitive.

ThankyouPeter · 30/07/2020 15:52

Vision Direct but I have a cautionary tale. The lenses I order are always on offer and I pay about £13 for a box of 6. Vision Direct kindly send you a reminder email where you can re order your lenses in 3 clicks. Rather sneakily the lenses are then £19 per box. I almost fell for it the first time but went into the website the normal way and they were back down to £13. It happens every time so, yes you can get them much cheaper than you are currently paying but be careful when you re order and don't just do it without checking they are the same price.

Hi Have just posted this but double check you aren't paying more by using the re order in 3 click method. My lenses are £6 a box more expensive that way! I can get them at the cheaper price by ordering them through the website normally. Very naughty of them I think
allmycats · 30/07/2020 16:08

Please do not change brands unless you have trilled them and then been checked by your optometrist. Different brands ARE just that, different, in curvature, thickness and moisture content etc. If you want to trial others see your optom first, do not take unqualified advice on here. You only get 1 set of eyes.

GinWithRosie · 30/07/2020 16:20

Hi all...thanks again! Lots of great advice and handy tips for purchasing online 👍

@underneaththeash exactly that, yes..GPC scarring, so I would definitely not change the brand/type. I’ve tried several, and so far these Acuvue Dailies are the only ones I can comfortably wear 👍 It’s been a bit of a journey and I almost gave up, so I’m happy to have found these 😊

@allmycats you really do only get one pair of eyes 🥰 I will take care, thank you xx

i get mine from daysoft and i findthem really comfortable and good value

Somanysocks · 30/07/2020 16:31

I use Lenstore or Alensa for Acuvue multifocal dailies. Have found that if you go into their website and put all your measurements in and then exit and wait a while, say a day or two, they come back with a cheaper price. Never re-order, as others are saying.

Yesbutisittouching · 30/07/2020 16:32

I recommend ‘Feel Good contacts’ excellent service.

allmycats · 30/07/2020 16:32

Daysoft are actually very cheap and for a reason. If you have absolutely no problem and you have 6 monthly checks OK. But they are not for everyone.

paddingtonbearsmarmalade · 30/07/2020 16:33

@GinWithRosie totally fair enough - I figured you’d probably considered monthlies/weeklies etc but worth checking just in case! :) hope you find somewhere that works for you re price

CodenameVillanelle · 30/07/2020 16:36

Daysoft for daily disposables. £13 per month. They are definitely poorer quality than the ones I used to get and my eyes get dry sometimes but it's worth it - I can always bin a pair or a lens if they are scratched or whatever and it's only pennies lost.

Robs20 · 30/07/2020 16:40

I used feel good contacts for the first time recently - after years of rubbish service with Boots (contacts being sent to the wrong address/ not sent at all multiple times), I am definitely a convert. They arrived within 24 hours!

GinWithRosie · 31/07/2020 11:28

Thanks everyone...ordered through Lenstore yesterday and they've just arrived! Exactly the same lenses as my current ones, £15 a month cheaper 👍

Gotthetshirt23 · 02/08/2020 23:03

Just my opinion - all the lens wearers online ? How often are your eyes checked ?
I mean with a uv solution for scratches / damage etc ?
You only get one pair and i get mine checked regularly.
